Ok I did, pretty good. As Greg pointed out, I shouldnt have attacked you. Your right I dont know you. Is that you singing? Sounds good.

Maybe I can shed some light here,

I listen to music objectively, not solely based on my opinion (that is subjected to my ego.)

I will also concede I know nothing about Death Metal, the few songs I've heard I could not get through, are there talented guys there? I'm sure there are. I just cant take it. I am not bullshitting you about the guitar, with a few weeks practice I can shred, its just not that interesting to me anymore and I have nothing to prove, I'd rather produce someone elses talents.

I apologize for any personal comments that were out of line. You'll see I'm not a bad guy.

I don't see the coincidence at all. Top-40 radio is garbage. The popular stuff is vapid shit. There's your coincidence, and it all goes right back to the music listening general public being tasteless morons.

Here's my point Greg,
When any upcoming band (in any genre) gets a 5 min. shot at national exposure, what song do they play? The one that is/will be most popular with the fans/friends they have, or one that isnt? Because 99% of the time its their "BEST SONG" I tend to agree with the listening public much of the time. You dont? You, prefer a bands obscurest compositions? Thats fine, but objective reality dictates certain undeniable facts.

500 million people think Lady GaGa is the best thing out there right now, Thats a fact, rationalize it anyway you want. I dont believe they're all morons, but its Ok if you do. You dont have to like it.

I'd want to hear what they think their best song is, not what they think we want to hear to appease the clueless masses. I know that I have songs that people like, but they're not my personal favorites. If someone asks me "what's your best song?", I'll tell them what my best song is, not what I think they'll think it is.

Stop telling me things I already know. I don't need your permission to think anyone is a moron. Lol. What am I rationalizing? Musically stupid people isn't some new phenomonon. They always surround pop music. Lots of people eat at McDonalds too. McDonalds must be really good food, right? You can't ever use mass appeal as a barometer of what's good, because for the 5th time now, people are inherently stupid. Are you gonna call me talentless and jealous too now? Do you even have a point anymore? :laughings:

everyone should own a gun...then you guys could go shoot yourselves

I didnt say what they think is their best song, the song that has a track record of being peoples favorite.

No, I'm not gonna say your talentless, and I wasnt suggesting you need my permission for anything.

but I will say this: this is a "Marketing Thread" You asked me why I got angry, IDK, but this has something to do with it:

Phil said "Lady GaGa is a Sell out made to Sell out."

THATS THE PRODUCERS JOB ! You dont borrow money to make music that doesnt sell. I was honestly trying to point out "The Market" from a business mans perspective. My point isnt about "whats good music?" its about "what is good music to market?."

That is all.

Yeah that's me singing and just screwing around with some blues. I'm a wacky person musically I kind of just write what I'm into at the moment. Sometimes it's death metal and sometimes it's other kinds of music that I like. Sometimes I'll spend 3 or 4 months playing nothing but classical guitar. Then I'll get the urge to do something else. Thank you for apologizing, although I didn't take it personally. I don't mind a good debate and I understand things get heated. I was a little harsh about it too and probably seem negative, but I'm really just trying to be realistic.

You shouldn't have gotten angry about anything. I couldn't understand WTF you were flipping out about.

Phil, that was a great song, man ! Beautifully sung too. We tend to overlook that on HR sometimes, there's some really good singers around.

"Music should never offend, it should always charm" - Mozart
I would have lots of arguments with Armadaeus about this. You simply can't control how people will respond to music. There again, in his defence, he didn't really deal much in lyrics, multitracking or electricity........

I'm not interested in either but the reality is in today's world, there's a good chance one will do either. And sometimes even both !

Thank you I really appreciate that, it means a lot to me. It's funny because I wouldn't consider myself a really good singer lol. Mostly just having fun and belting out some vocals that are in-tune for the most part. And with some songs you just can't get that vibe you need for it to be on the money.

You can offend, shock, please, abuse, charm. It doesn't matter in today's market. Things have grown so stale for your average Joe that they need some band waggon to jump on. It's just a matter of how taboo they want it. That's how stupid bands like ICP have become so popular.
