please can someone tell me what the difference is between these softwares

Pro Tools

is one better than the other, and why.

All of the above are in use in pro studios every day. Whether one is "better" than another depends mostly on your requirements and preferences.

Unless somethings changed, DP works only on Apple computers.

hey myk... reason is used mainly for making beats and that sort of stuff...
protools and digital performer are more multitrack software... and come with hardware to run with. Protools is used more in bigger studios.. but i use a digi 002rack in my small studio, and i love it. I have other friends that use digital performer, and they love it. They are both nice setups.. but i prefer protools.
