programs for the imac?

Are there inexpensive recording programs that are mac compatible? I'm dying to get started, but I don't want to fork over serious cash, yet. I thank you in advance.

Why not download the free protools programme from the http://www.digidesign.com site.
That's a start and it's for free and Digi will like you cos they got you hooked.
