Great White North Girl
forgive me if you've heard this too many times already.

i have always had a problem with drums. so i decided i needed to be able to program them myself. does anyone have any suggestions as to what products to get for programming drum lines?

thanks

There are at least two ways to go --- a dedicated drum machine or a software package.

This is an example of a dedicated machine and this is an example of a software package.

those look great. :) how easy are they to use? i'm no genius and sometimes i need things to be nice and simple and fool proof, cause i'm no ordinary fool lol.

I'm pretty new to this stuff, but I've been getting good results using FuityLoops. It's simple to use (even for a fossil like me :) ). I'm trying to get drums that sound real and sounding like they are being played by a human being and it works for me.

Both have a moderate learning curve, but they differ because one is hardware and the other is software.

If you already use a computer for music you'd probably be better off with the software option --- if not, the hardware would be the one to pick.

i use a little tascam dp-01 fx 8 track portastudio for the actual recording. the boss machine would work fine with that, but i also use my computer for mixdown purposes and some mastering. so the computer app would be fine too. i think either of those products would be fine for the set up i seem to be falling into.
