lately my n-track, after i add an effect to a track, just something like hi-fi or something, i'll mix down the tracks and get a mixdown wav file. this file, it skips. like parts of tracks will randomly cut out. what is this? i just wondered if any of you have ever had that problem. thanks.

Julian,

Umm..not sure what your problem might be. Have you tried playing the wav file with a different program like your wav editor or Media Player?

I've had skipping before but not on a mixed down file.

Some rules that might help...

1. Close all programs that might be open and running like those on the task bar (lower right). Use ctrl/alt/delete to close everything except Explorer and Systray.

2. If you haven't optimized your system for recording you should.
Tascam has a site that will tell you how to go about it.

http://www.tascam.com/support/faq/pc_optimize/6_optimize.cfm

3. Defrag your system regularly before or after tracking. Some say this is not so necessary but I've found it to help my system run smoothly when tracking.

Good Luck,
Rusty K

P.S.
I just clicked on the link I gave you above but the page wouldn't come up. If you have trouble just go to Tascam.com and search for a tutorial entitled. Optimizing Your System.

I've had that problem before. It's not an optimization thing, it's got to be a bug. VERY annoying.

How often does it happen and what version are you on? I don't think I've run into that problem since version 3.0.

For me it was happening with volume envelopes. Instead of applying the envelope, the track would just quit playing. This of course results in a very strange sounding mixdown.

I always sort of hold my breath when I mixdown in n-Track. It usually works but.... recenlty I've discovered that I can no longer do an online mixdown, I just get total noise. Sigh..
