Hey. I'm really new to the world of recording--I bought a Tascam 414MKii from Musician's Friend just a couple of months ago. It was all going fairly well (I thought I was beginning to get a bit of a handle on its operation) until about a week ago. The recorder has developed this problem: I only get sound in the monitor/head phones on playback for about a minute or so. After that, the signal becomes very distorted and fades out. When I turn the recorder off and then turn it back on, there is nothing in terms of sound. I know it doesn't have anything to do with volume levels while recording because the audio fades out whether I'm recording or not. Like I said, this is the first recorder I've ever bought and I don't really have any ideas about what the problem could be, technically speaking, or what degree of repair might be needed. I was hoping someone more knowledgable might be able to clue me in as to what the problem might be. Thanks.
