Problem with my EMU 0404

I have recently purchased a EMU 0404 USB interface. I have installed all the disks, and followed the instructions; but when it comes to selecting it instead of my on board soundcard, both on windows and on Reaper, it doesn't seem to acknowledge that anything is plugged in.
Has anyone come across this situation before?

Try the manufacturer's board. The word on those things was they were rock-solid, once you got past the hurdle of getting them to work at all.

yes I went thru that with the 1820, exactly rock solid "once" its up and running...I had to go to the board and some here helped and then updated all the recommened softwares.....

then never had a problem...er...until I tried to change pc's and a harddrive and it was total chaos again!....luckily it got back on line when I put everything back. it wasn't pretty....

good luck. try the productionforums its EMU all in depth and some really known problems can be fixed there.

I found that I needed to have it turned on before I started up the computer, or I had the same problem.
Once I figured that out, mine has worked like a champ, and it's a minor inconvenience to restart the computer if it's already running when I decide to record.
Hopefully, that will work for you, too.

It has been a few years since I purchased mine but the 0404 I have is Pci based. Did they switch to USB? Never had any problems with installation or software on the two computers it was passed between.
Do you have the latest manufacturers drivers?
