Yes. It would have to be footroom. But you are going to have to have magnificent ears to hear down that quiet.

ok, so this is off topic, but still about protools. i just figure this thread is pretty much over with, so no one will be too bothered by me highjacking it.

i also record with protools. I need to record more than 8 inputs at a time. I emailed digidesign and they told me that i cant use 2 digi001's together, but i can use some other converter and go into the digi001's optical input.

does anyone want to suggest a decent converter for 1000 or less that will do what i need? also, i would like for it to be at least 4 inputs, but 8 would be better.

PM me and I will sell you a broken ADAT for $50. It can be used as a converter. That's way less than $1000 :)

What about a digital mixer?

Wouldn't a digital mixer be able to hook up to the 001 through the one of the digital connections and provide the extra inputs you need? I'd think this could be a more cost effective approach, though you may have already thought of this.

i hadn't thought of it. i actually have a friend that has a digital mixer, so i may just be able to borrow his.

thanks guys.

Check out the Presonus line of converter/pre units.
They have an 8 input with 8 mic pre for about $700
