Good Lord, I get the picture. :o
And the unsigned red chicklets are flowing like snow in the midwest

I think xstatic has a point also, a point which I overlooked since I'm not a moderator.

But I think everybody around here can tell you I am NOT one of the people who does the "Rep Thing".....none of your chiclets come from me.... dont bother with it, the rep stuff here is set up like a joke anyway. Just the fact that it's all anonymous makes it a joke....

Beware SynthPlanet?

bigwillz! you have every right to be confused.
I checked this out with Bob Reardon of Sonic-Distribution-U.S.
His words exactly-"Completely Bogus.....They are not an sE Dealer."
Bob also shared that synthplanet does this type of thing periodically requiring their (sE's) intervention.
Interesting to note that synthplanet uses the word "lasso" in their URL code for this product they are not authorized to sell new.

Hmmmmmmmmm :p
In a thread ostensibly intended to inform members of cheaper prices, does that mean that you just helped to eliminate a cheaper option for folks that another member pointed out?

KD, you obviously didnt read the words that were coming out of my mouth.

I said that the Managing Director of Sonic-Distribution U.S. said that synthplanet is NOT an authorized sE Dealer and that synthplanet periodically advertises in a manner making one believe that they are an authorized sE Dealer.
If you want to purchase sE products from them in light of this information, you and I both know that I have exactly no control on your choices.
In fact, if you choose to do so and it works out, let everyone here know. The prices are really very good even with the $100+ shipping.
However, I would add that if you do run into a snag with these folks, please let me know and I will be happy to touch base with James Young who oversees Sonic-Distribution in Europe and I'll see if we can help you in any way possible. :)
Peace. OUT! I'm done here.

Is that a Rush Hour reference by any chance?

Anyone who ever buys gear off ebay, is probably aware that buying gear-- even new gear, from someone other than an authorized dealer is not all that unusual. It does, of course mean that you won't get the same warranty protection.
The shipping price probably wouldn't be as high for people living and doing their thing outside of the US I would imagine, which includes some people who frequent this board and some of whom might be in whatever country "synth planet" is in (or planet it's on :) )
I see that the link is now down, which was the question I asked. Apparently the answer is "yes"

"Peace out" dogg

This may sound/read a little incongruous HSG, but I don't mean anything personal with these comments. Good luck with your dealership and for what little it's worth, the only rep I've ever given you on this board has been positive. :)

hsg

you've been a member here over a year

you have a helpful website (nice desk plans btw)

you've posted helpful info

as have harvey and alan

who also sell things

(though harvey was just being helpful again)

if you want to let us know about price breaks

and other dealer related stuff

that may be helpful to us

head on

fuck these spam police

most of whom have their heads

up their asses anyway

here's some pos rep for ya

Cannabis,
Everyone has a right to express their approval or disapproval of stuff that gets posted. Your voice is your own, mine is my own, HSG's is his own, and anyone who posted on this or any other thread speaks for themselves. All carry equal weight, with the exception of the moderators, who, in their wisdom, can do whatever they want with the content on this board.
Cursing any other posters (or me) out doesn't and won't change that.

right you are

just as it is my right to curse

those self-righteous dingalings

who feel it is their holy duty

to keep these boards 'spam free'

(per their definition of spam) :)

there is a long history here

of merciless badgering of those,

including harvey gerst and alan hyatt among others,

who were felt by some members

to be spamming their products here

or supporting those who did

the resulting acrimony

resulted in this forum, in particular,

being rather devoid of useful content

much of the time

Well said Cannabis.
Let me preface this by saying again, I only can speak from my experience and for myself, but I think that some of the bad feelings may not just come from this forum, but from the experiences of many home studio recordists who have been bombarded by advertising rhetoric in the supposedly objective recording magazines (or gear catalogs) that they turn to when looking for guidance in what to spend their limited resources on.

IMHO, I think that a lot of them see these kinds of forums as being sanctuaries from and free of that kind of disingenuous "information," and that opinions or testimonials about gear from people on boards like this come because they use the gear and love (or hate) it, not because there is a personal financial incentive for them to promote it. They might then see spamming (or perceived spamming) as a challenge to that kind of safety of information.

Just consider the number of Newbies who come on for advice on their first major mic purchase. I certainly can clearly remember being apprehensive about and searching for guidance on sinking what seemed a ridiculous amount of money ($300) into my first "real" condenser mic (Agh-- if only it stopped there :D!)

Okay, I'm off my soapbox now and will try to gracefully butt out. :)

Well, this thread may not have originally intended to have been spam, but it certainly is now. As for Alan and Harvey, at one point they did at least a little spamming. It was pointed out and things are now different. I for one do not mind. However, I also see the bigger picture. Where does the line get drawn? At what point do we decide which is acceptable spam and which isn't? Who decides that. You may not understand that Cannabis, and that is OK. However, it still seems to me that in the event of not being sure which direction to take concerning spam, it is much better that we avoid it all together until better guidelines are installed.

Do I see this thread as spam? Certainly. The post was started by a dealer in order to promote his/her product. How is that possibly not spam? However, had someone came in asking about or wondering about SE products, chiming in would not in my opinion be out of line. Starting a whole thread though certainly is spam though. The continued defense of it in my opinion instead of a prompt apology and removal however certainly tells me that the motive was much more than just the spreading of information.

You and others have made your point quite clear to me and everyone else.
I understand my mistake as shown above and elsewhere in this thread.
The Moderators can delete this thread if they so choose.
If I had that capacity, I would do it.
I'm moving on. :o
I hope you can too. :(

my point is that for a helpful member

to promote a product

some slack could be given

those of you who consider this thread spam

have been very polite in pointing it out

which is to be commended

this has not been the case in the past

and this forum and all of us

have come out the losers for it

we're all big boys

and can tell what is promotional material

especially when a poster has his commercial affiliation

posted in his sig line

and is not trying to hide anything

in theory, there are moderators here

who can enforce their rules if they so choose

it is not up to us to be policemen -

if we're offended by thread content

we can easily report it

these threads were out and out spam

and were removed

https://homerecording.com/bbs/forumdisplay.php?f=35

if someone who is a member here

happens to be a dealer for a product

and has a tip or a price break on it

i'd like to know about it

but that's just me

carry on

If you really mean this, please close this thread from "thread tools" and let it fade away.
This has turned into a ridiculous pissing contest.
