So the new Macbook Pros only have a Firewire 800 port. The Firestudio works on 400. If i used a 400 to 800 convertor for recording, would that effect the process in any way? Like add latency or something?

The new Macbook Pro's only have 800? I hope there is no problem converting. That would have been a stupid move for Mac, making tons of usable gear obsolete. Glad mine isn't brand new then. I have both.

Firewire 800 is backwards compatible with firewire 400. There should be no issues.

Be aware if you are considering Presonus equipment that their technical "support" has gotten to be absolutely horrendous. They don't answer phones (I spent nearly an hour on permahold a couple of times) and take forever, if at all, to respond to emails (I have an issue with a Firestudio that came back from repair and have been emailing since March 30 with no response).
