presonus bluetube dp preamp

anyone have experience with this preamp? how does it compare to the focusrite octopre le? i was thinking of buying an octopre but i'm now leaning towards a couple of the bluetubes instead based on the reviews i've read. also, is it worth me sacraficing some preamp channels and go for qaulity not quantity?

Always go for quality over quantity. Always.

I'm not that crazy about the BlueTube. It's okay at the price point, but if you are considering spending the same money on two channels of something better I'd say go in that direction.

Did you try emailing/calling Presonus?
 
Yes, I've been hassling with Presonus for some time. They finally came through and sent me a Regulator LM317T. I think it controls Phantom Power.
I broke out my soldering iron and replaced the old one. I had some hopeful meter readings but when I closed the preamp I didn't get any voltage at the XLR input connector. I re-opened the preamp to see if I did something stupid and all of a sudden I got sparks and the circuit breaker popped on my Simpson. The preamp was unplugged at the time. When I plugged the power back on, my voltage readings on the regulator disappeared. I can really use a Schematic. I'll try Presonus again but they already told me they don't do that.
