Hello everybody

I've been trying to pick microphone preamp, but I cant decide on what to get. I mostly record rap artist. and i'm looking for a clear warm in your face sound. I've found 3 preamps that look like they'll do the job, but i don't know what would be tjhe best.
1. safesound audio p1 http://www.frontendaudio.com/P1.htm
2.m-audio tampa http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Tampa/
3.grace design 101 http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/101/

out of these 3 pre's what do you guys think would be the best to achieve what i'm looking for. thanx in advance

i've heard good things about the Tampa. I know the grace design is a great pre that performs well, and I have no experience with the P1.

The Grace is your most botique coolness factor choice among the three.
It's been available in its current form for a while. The others may be more of a fad.

My $.02

If you are recording rap, you must use an Avalon. I thought everyone abided by that rule? ;)

If you are wanting "in your face," the P1 can do that quite well with its compressor and limiter. Although I must admit I haven't tried rapping through it to know fo sho.
It has a lot of stuff to tweak on it, so if you aren't a tweaker you might like the Grace better. You can alway compress with a plug or something later.

I love the safesound p1.
I recorded the songs "this ghost", and "planet" with the safesound on bass, vocals, reamped guitar and and mic'd up the amp with a shure sm57 powered by the safesound. You can here them so you can get an idea.
