Freakin' sweet
Sorry for another simplistic question, but this is mostly an experience-based concern.

I have a powerBook G4, 17" 1Gb RAM, 80GB HD, 1.5Ghz PPC processor.

Just curious if this thing will handle a Firepod and Cubase for recording. I don't need the thing to be able to handle writing 16 tracks at once, but I'd like to be able to do some work on it without it skipping and popping - just curious about anyone elses' experience with these laptops.

I searched and found a number of posts regarding usage of the powerBooks, but rarely did I actually find someone saying "Yes the PB has worked all right" or "No it sucked the balls". I do not have the option of upgrading this computer, so I want to know if I should waste the money on the Firepod or not - currently I have a clunky 24 track analog desk and Tascam DAT decks, and I need to pair down to move to a small apartment, so i am looking to the computer for help! (In more ways than one, as it would seem :))

I have no experience with a fire pod, but plenty of experience wit macs (I've been using them for 12 years now. They are very stable and work nicely with Pro Tools in my experience
no clicks or pops (I have found that any clicks or pops generally come from the audio drivers which will be down to programing from the company that made the software)

I hope that helps some

also on another note: i always thought your user name was cuebaseman lol and was wondering why these questions were coming from you lol!

Never used Cubase, but I could play back... I think 24-ish tracks on a PowerBook G3/266 in the late 90s, so I can't imagine having trouble handling 16 tracks on anything. :D

haha damn... Well, perhaps I won't be so worried then. I'll just be sure not to have 14 effects and plugins processing each channel when I test it out :)

Like omg roflmao

Going to Banjo Shack after work today to pick up the Firepod - I figure, if its defective or something, GC takes shit back with a good humor (or so has been my experience), so I'd rather be able to return it locally rather than having to send it back. Plus, if I don't like its operation, they do have that fun little return policy :D

Holy smokes I'm excited... I'm experiencing a whole range of emoticons! :p:rolleyes::mad:;):(:D:o:confused::cool::eek::)
