Hello,
I recently purchased a JoeMeek ThreeQ from a UK store on eBay and it arrived today and has a USA power adapter with it. Am I right to presume it'll still work fine with a different UK 12V power supply which I have from another unit? As far as I gather, aslong as the ThreeQ gets 12v it'll be alright?

Thanks,
James

Yes. 12vDC at the proper current rating. Look at the back of the unit. It should say something like:
+12vDC @ 1A. This would be 12v direct current running 1 amp.

Match the power supply and you will be OK.
Rounding the current UP is OK but don't round down.

Ex: +12vDC @ 750mA .......... OK to run 1Amp
+12vDC @ 1Amp..............Must be 1Amp or greater.

The unit just says 12vAC and no current rating. I'm unsure what to do as I don't want to risk damaging the unit.

If you're unsure contact PMI and ask them if they'll supply you with a UK psu.

It's worth another £15-20 and a few days wait not to blow your new pre up.

OK. It uses a 12vAC stepdown transformer. It still has to have a nominal current marking somewhere.

Page 15 indicates 12 VAC @ 12 watts...

1 AMP current draw

Before you try a generic 12v 1a wall wart, double check the connector on the generic wall wart to make certain that it's configured for your 3Q... in other words, if the center pin conductor on the power supply jack on the 3Q is +12, be certain that the center conductor in the wall wart plug is also +12, not ground. Some devices and wall warts are wired differently...
