Temptations - Christmas Song (aka silent night) ....lmao

Soon you gonna be making beats 4 me Noddy. You picked the beat making up real fast, I remember when you was completely new to it around here, you got a natural ear/talent for it to learn things that fast which is more than most of us can say. I'm not naturally talented at beat making, I had to teach myself but I still have creative limits without that natural talent. I'm more of an artist/writer than producer. I wish I was still up in D.C. so I could get you up on point with processing (drum compression, eqing, fx, panning etc...) sh*t I might not have to make another beat then. :D :D

Just givin you ya props, keep the title in D.C.!!! LOL

OK _ i missed the vote time deadline - crap!!!! well i guess it dont matter now but i would voted for . . .

ok, now that i missed the judgements n all that - how bout we set up a deal or sorts - i wanna spit on some of these tracks!!!

lol

OOOH ...I forgot i was suppose to be judgin....damn..been a little busy...gotta deadline to meet...

Here is my answer to why i scored what I did:

The reason I scored as high as I did was due to the judge being nice. If i was the judge and i heard that beat i woulda scored it no more than a 20 in all honesty here's why:

First off all I did was make 2 diff. patterns and i used one for the chorus and one for the verse..I didn't make an intro or outro for it and the only effects i used was an instance of reverb and i equed one of the basses to make it sound more like a sine bass instead of a guitar bass. as for the arrangement i just switched between patterns when i wanted it to go into chorus and the same when going back to verse, i made no attempt to make it a smooth transition and i also did not do anything with pan's or nothing like that. I must admit that this beat is one of my worst beats ever made by me, but thats not an excuse for my score, the real reason for the score is because i really didn't like 1 sound in the whole kit, i have over 100,000 sounds in my library and did a horrible job picking them, next time i will spend more time going through sounds when i construct a kit. to be honest i used those sounds for the kit cuz i never used those sounds before lol. so yea i score myself a flat 20 on this beat due to lack of interest in the sound kit and i rushed this beat cuz i made it from start to finish in 7 minutes. I am currently in the process of constructing a dope ass sound kit for the next battle and then i will provide the sample kit for the battle after the next one which will be the "santa slayer beat battle"

I think you guys can still judge, it'll give a little more opinion than just me. Just use the same point system, and check em out. I made it real hard to hit a 10 in anything, below that, if the beat ----sounded---- good, than it got a good rating. When it comes down to Interest, that's when you say that sounding good is actually sounding good if you know what I mean. A beat can sound good, but lack that interest, so the mixing it down & arrangments could be great, but lack of interest would cause it to fail.

D Ease....
You hear all those shitty simple ass beats on the radio? (mainly in the south)... I would give them a decent score, even though I think they suck. Only because to be a engineer, or someone working with sound, you have to throw out "what you like" and all the types of genres you like, and be the person who knows SOUND. Once you start judging something because of your own interest, your not really a good judge, so that's why I judge it based on what I heard, the actual sound etc. I made this commercial the other day for school, and it was the WORST in the WORLD cause I rushed through it in also 7 minutes flat lol.. I got a 90 on it... I asked why, and if it meets the criteria, than he scores it on that, not on how fuckin' shitty the lines were to it... Quality was there, music was there, vox was on there... only thing he said was wrong in THIS assignment, was volume level on some places... In the real world, I would have been fired for this 1 commercial lol. Anyways, don't judge your own beat vs how your other beats sound. Judge it by exactly what it is. If you had the chorus like 15ms off beat, and all that, then yeah, your mixing woulda been near 0 lol. But it wasn't like that far off. Arrangments, you did have the verses, and choruses, You didn't just plop the beat and give the listener EVERYTHING within' the first 5 seconds of the beat. When giving them everything right at the start, why would they want to listen to the rest when they "heard" it all already? Interest factor drops after that. That's why your interest factor wasn't real low. The sounds of the kit, all the instruments, were there. You can press play, and hear all the instruments you put in there, and they sit well with each other, though you can always once in a while drive say a guitar that's delayed up hot to drive the music & interest factor up (great for rock music). Since your instruments sat together decent, your mixing, quality were steady. Plus I based the scores on, how many contestance, what kind of contest (being this is just a board with 5 talented producers battling it out). Now if you were going against say Timberland, Dre, Rock It, Just Blaze, etc, scores would probably be different. But on this Level, I believe that the scores were somewhat accurate. Of course I'm human so I'm proned to mistakes too lol.

btw Quality would have been LOW for everybody, since a lot of the kit wasn't high quality sounds you kno? so I factored in that part of it. Everybody made the sound quality better than it was in the original kit.

i tell ya - this is such a great place to learn some shit!!!!!!
