hey all. i’ve got a big fat file to share. after a couple weeks of trying to mix these songs to perfection by digitizing the stems and mixing through my board with my interface, things were clicking and doing weird dynamic crap and i was like “this sucks!!! back to tape!!!”

so, i mixed every song from the tape with a more distinct bass frequency pocket, vocals which were less harshly eqed, louder, and overall every song is just better quality. this is THE final version. at least mix wise. i may slightly boost bass, or cut certain annoying frequencies, or whatever else. all the compression and limiting (my poor attempt at mastering) was done in audacity.

I GIVE YOU THE WHOLE ALBUM RIGHT HERE

Homekeepers Self-Titled LP

this is the product of about 6 months of work, minus school and my day job (which at 19 is working at a grocery store). one mic, one preamp.

skip to 3:22 to begin hearing the fruits of the tascam 38. before that, you’re hearing a tascam 244 with a choreographed mix down.

i’ll be adding one more song before it hits spotify this june, an instrumental that i did with keyboard, double tracked acoustic and recently with added double track drums (yes!! it sounds quite cool) and a cool little bass thing. anyone heard of elliot smith??? it sounds quite like a song of his, which makes sense considering i have a yamaha fg-160 and am using a tascam 38.

all done WITHOUT dbx on, and honestly i quite like the sound of ATR tape without DBX. sounds beautifully flawed, as it’s the “tape sound” everyone talks about. but the rest of this album was my poor attempt at an indie rock boston debut.
