'LADY, TELL ME STRAIGHT'

mikeuva.bandcamp.com

We made this record on a Tascam 488mkii, using an Aphex 107 preamp and these mics: RE-20, AT4033, SM81, SM58. Vinyl pressed here in Cleveland by Gotta Groove!

Thanks for listening.
Mike

Excellent work dude!

Especially liked 'Drank Too Much Last Night' :thumbs up:

some new Mellotron M4000D sound samples here (scroll down a little):

Last I saw those things were almost as rare as the real thing. Good score!

I don't usually do covers, but there was this old game I was playing recently, which had a score by Rob Hubbard. And while I was playing it, I got this crazy idea to do my own version, trying to stay faithful to the original while expanding it to use more than the 3 channels which the SID chip had. I stuck to instruments that would have been available around 1986, when the game was released.

There are things which could have been done better, but overall I am rather pleased with how it turned out.

Tracking was done to the MSR-24, mixing to the A807. I was tempted to play bass but I felt it sounded good enough without, and arguably truer to the original.

Nice! Monty on the run.!!!
I love all things Commodore 64.Rob Hubbard is a genius.
I have modded a few of my C64's so they have dual SID chips. And audio outputs. Now they're in stereo!
I have the really cool MSSIAH and cynthcart cartridges which basically turn your C64 into the coolest synthesizers!
These things sound fat and buzzy.
Im gonna incorporate these sounds into some of my originals in the future. And I'll most likely be asking some questions in the Analog forum about putting midi time code on track 8 of my 388 so I can sync things up.

Oh my Lord that's fantastic. Ever heard the band The Advantage? All 8-bit NES cover band...fantastic stuff. There's album potential in this, I'd say. Honestly, C64 was a bit before my time, so I'm not familiar with Hubbard, but that will change!

Thanks, guys, it was fun to do. The ending part and the similar arpeggiation earlier in the final section were the hardest parts - the whole thing was done by ear, and those bits were difficult to get right, even listening to the original at half speed.

What's the footage in 'It All Depends On Everything'?

Anyhow, if anyone's interested, my latest effort is available here:
Incubi and Succubi
I've posted a bunch of demos of these earlier, but this is the final version of the album. It was tracked to TSR-8 and MSR-24, and mixed to a Studer A807.

it's old public service stuff about the post office, edited together to make it seem like something else!

I'm gonna download 'Doug The Eagle' and have a listen this weekend!

i forgot to add the question mark to my post above.
It comes off sounding rude.
i was wondering about the film footage, but i see it has been answered.

ha -- i thought you were just confirming ! yeh, just old public archives. edited to tell something of a story

matches up with the music very well.
You have really nailed the sonics.

thank you ... here's a couple more for anyone interested:

These were recorded on the AG-300 8-track on 1 inch Scotch 206, and mixed to an Ampex AG-440 2-track 1/4" on Scotch 202. Mixer is a Teac Model 5. Mic preamps include the Universal Audio LA-610 and Shure M67. Reverb courtesy a Biamp MR-140 and an Ampex 440 mono machine for delay. Buss compression via Art Pro-VLA. No compression was used during tracking, except for vocals (and some bass) on the LA-610. Instruments include '65 Fender Electric XII and Mellotron M4000D MINI.

I'm rather enjoying Oak of the Golden Dream. What inspired the title?

Anyone else kind of unhappy with this thread?

I certainly want to hear recordings done on analog gear, but I just don't really like the fact that all of them are to be posted in this one thread. It's far too hard to keep up with everything, and I feel that a lot of songs are slipping through the cracks because of it. Unless you peruse it daily, it seems, it's just too overwhelming in my opinion. I don't even know where to start anymore.

Is there any reason we can't just post songs the way they do in the mp3 clinic, but just do it here, among the other posts with questions, info, etc.?

I'm all for people posting their recordings in the general forum, in unique threads. I don't think there are too many people here so that it would become a problem ... I think it should be limited to analog recordings of course. Maybe we should just start doing that, and if the mods don't like they can move.

I'll start out w/ one!

Yeah .. I just don't think this is the best format for everyone's recordings to get heard.

maybe it would also be cool if people are posting lots of recordings, they would just add to their own thread instead of creating new ones. That way, you can hear all of the songs be each member in one place.
