I hear ya there!:o
All the vocals are pretty bad.I think Im gonna go back and rerecord them.
Thanks for listeneing.

I did like the double-tracking effect in and of itself, though as mentioned, the performance was a bit rough.

It sounds a lot like the way Chris Knox/Tall Dwarfs might have done it back in the 80s. Cool :D

I've never listened to that artist before, actually. I'd have to say the main influence on the recording process would have to be Dr. Dog's "Toothbrush" album. I will have to check out the artist you mentioned, though. Thanks for listening!

hey i have an old 2709b 1/3 octave real time analyzer does any1 know how to use 1

Early Can, Neu!, Brian Jonestown Massacre.... shit dude, listening to more stuff, it's fantastic.... where can I buy your stuff?

Love the guitar tones on "Just Go Spit Out Another Lie"... how brightly the rhythm is compared to the fuzzed out guitar. It creates a real sense of space, possibly having to do with the reverberation and just the simple fact that it's analog but the juxtaposition is simply gorgeous!

Thanks a million mate, really glad you like it :-) You seem to be into psychedelia as well – I'd love to hear some recordings you've done. BTW your guesses regarding our influences is really spot on.

”Just Go Spit Out Another Lie” was recorded on a Fostex A4 on 7,5 ips, later mixed down to stereo and to DAW with vocals recorded digitally but exclusively with cheap outboard effects units – a guitar pedal to be precise. .
The guitars is Bjørn playing the clean one on a Jazzmaster through a small Vox Pathfinder amp and me playing a Rickenbacker through a Fuzzface to a Vox Defiant amp trying to imitate Brian Eno on ”Here Comes The Warm Jets” (hence the profile name). There might be some spring reverb from the desk added later on, can't recall.

The more recent stuff is 100% tracked on tape and has a richer sound than the old stuff. We do have a lot of fun recording, lots of room for improvisation and madness.

I can send you our first vinyl, it'll be 18 dollars + shipping. Please e-mail us at spoekraket@gmail.com so I won't mess it up :-)

Another Hundred Miles

Hi all,

Here is my band's latest album. (Link: A Thousand Weary Nights | Another Hundred Miles). It's got an alt-country, americana vibe to it.

It was recorded onto a Tascam TSR-8 through an Allen & Heath Mixwizard 14:4:2 mixer.

Other notable gear includes: Bock u197, Shure SM81, Rode NT5's, FMR RNP, Summit TLA-50, FMR RNC, FMR RNLA, Orban 422A, Demeter RV-1 Spring Reverb, and an Ibanez AD202 delay.

We bounced the mixes to digital using an Apogee Duet 2, had it mastered at Golden Mastering, and printed to vinyl by Pirates Press. Hope you enjoy the music, please send along any comments and feedback!

Cheers,
-Doug

Holy shit dude! My band just got our masters from golden mastering and are just about to get them sent to pirate press. The masters are great. Were you satisfied with everything from pirate and golden?

Absolutely loved both Golden and Pirates. Golden was great, super helpful, did a couple versions of a few songs for us, and the final product sounded amazing. They really turned it into an album that had a unified sound. Pirates Press was also awesome to deal with. Really great customer service, and they did a killer job on everything. The packaging looks perfect and the "Oxblood Red" vinyl we got it pressed on is super sharp. Can't say enough good things about both these places. No doubt that our next album will be going through them as well.

Good luck with the final stages of you album!
-Doug
