Got enough pics, geez. Cool studio though. Where are the instruments and where do are they recorded (last photos) ? I wouldn't mind being recorded in any of your studios. I don't have pics of my current set up, maybe next week.

The instruments are the 2 keyboards, the Grand Piano, and i have an alto saxophone, and an alto clarinet (in their cases)Skycries57 said:

Frontside and backside of my patchbays. There's never enough wires! Well, wires and ty-raps. And solder- can't forget solder. And heatshink tubing.... (;-)
Anyway, a neat rig is a maintainable rig (ducks...). That's not as tidy as it should be- I was trying out a couple of effects above the patchbays, and hadn't reharnessed everything yet.

Actually, in the back of the rack there's very little heatshrink showing. I use 4-, 8-, and 16-conductor jacketed multipair cable from ProCo and Gepco for the runs from the rack- so what you see in there is just the stripped-back multipair cable. Essentially, what I built is multiple snakes terminated on the bays: so all 16 direct outs are on one multipair, all 16 line ins on another, all 16 inserts are on another, the stereo ins and outs for a reverb are on 4-pair, and so on. Makes it easier to keep straight at the board end, where everything fans out to 1/4" TRS connectors.
Why shrink, when you can get multipair and just strip back the jacket? (;-)

I'm a big fan of those Behringers that you posess. I doubt I'd use it to replace my 1604 but maybe an addition later on...

the 1604 is what I had. The Behringer is far more flexable, and the pre's are just as quite as the mackie. The 1604 was a good all around board, but for pure studio work, I have to stay with the big B. I am looking at the new DDX3216 all digital board of Behringer. However, I will wait till I read more reviews and hands on use before doing that. I am well aware of what a lot of people think of Behringer, but for me, it is what I need for what I do and the price vs. flex is just unbeatable.

I'm not convinced(not to say it isn't a VERY nice board). I like my Mackie and am very comfterble with it.
Plus it's new(3 months) and I don't want to get rid of it so soon and I have no doubt I'm going to keep it until it dies(and I know people who have left 1604s on for 10 years with out even shuting them off!).
I like your studio and all the others here. They all make me jeleous.

I am not trying to be a smartass or anything, but I had a 14 ch mixer before, and my setup is pretty much the same size as yours( from what I see in your picture) and I found myself having way more channels than I needed. So, I sold it for a smaller mixer.
Would you mind sharing your signal chain with us? I am just courious what advantage a bigger mixer offers except for tracking a whole band at once.
