Realizing of course that muadio IS STAudio

And Crate and Ampeg are both St Louis Music, but you'd probably rather have an Ampeg.

Insert dissent here:______________________________ ;)

Ford, thanks for the comaprison link.

Since the drivers were always released to STaudio sometimes months before they were released to MIDIman ( especially back in the day when staudio was called " hoontech" ), I think the staudio would be the ampeg and midiman would be the crate

Used to have an M-Audio MobilePre. Liked it a lot.
Used to have a 1820M E-mu in my PC. Loved it.

Since I've switched to mac & protools now, I'm going to buy an M-Audio again...FW410.

i love my e-mu. the dsp chip is the great. i think i can run 16 effects at once without tasking my cpu. i havn't ran that many at once though.

Esi

ESI juli@ card I have one sounds great, :D it is nice you can have either RCA unbalanced or 1/4 in balanced up to 192khz 24bit. for the ch 1-2

Only 4 ch 1-2 is analog 3-4 SPDIF.

plus midi IO as well

But works well for what im doing at the moment and it only costs around 150

when i upgrade my computer i want to get a 400f :D

I've got an M-Audio Audiophile 192 and I have no complaints whatsoever.

Ok , I don't want to jump on your thread here but I've been trying to post a question on here for three days and it doesn't work . I can do replies but no new threads ???

right now I use a Tascam US -122 ubs interface .

My question,,,,,

Hey ,

I read on here somewhere about a guy with 4 SB sound cards in a PC but can't seem to find it in the search engine .

If I install another Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS sound card in my PC will there be a problem with the PC and/or DAW ( Adobe Audition 1.5 ) recognising them as two separate I/O devises ??

I want to have two matched room mics via the sound cards to enhance the drum tracks I'm taking from a mixer via a Tascam US -122 now .

I installed a Phillips Rhythmic Edge card but the sound quality is to poor to get a usable stereo pair with the other SB card .

Is this possible to do or am I asking for recognition problems ??

I'm getting a nice mix now with my close mics and overheads mixed with a Mackie 1604 and tracking the mix from the mains to the Tascam .
I track one room mic from a sub into the sound card now but I would really like to get a pair for a better image .
Two room mics in conjunction with the mixer tracks would do me fine till I finally pull the trigger and upgrade the PC interface with an 8 track capability like the Pre Sonus FirePod or a Mackie 400F . :D

Thanks for any help you might have on this issue !! :)

You software might simply affirm the existence of more SB I/O on your system... but it depends on your software. n-Track will give you problems, I think. At any rate, you'd need to have them running off a common clock- slave 'em all to one clock source. But this type of thing is done...

That's all I got!

So far I am only qualified to say that I have used SB live, SB16 and now my baby EMU 0404. What can I say, I am on a budget!! I suppose that does not make me much different from many other musicians. SB (Buzz) FILTER FILTER.

EMU 0404.. Smooth and creamy. Amazing how clean this card sounds. After going through the non-user friendly task of installation with driver issues it is a real piece of work. Loving the DSP on board. Plugging and chugging. No tax to the comp's CPU at all so far and I loaded this thing down as much as I could just to see how well it would do... Awesome !! The EMU kept on performing.

So far, I've gotten to use cards from the first four brands on the list.

Unfortunately, no experience w/ Creamware or ST Audio or Terratec, though.

And I'm putting in a plug for Echo, because I don't think they get nearly the credit they deserve for making such good product ... that's easy to set up and use, problem-free, and with great customer / technical support. One of my favorite pro audio companies.

.

I went from Terratec to Aardvark Q-10 Pro. Sound quality difference was  I mean I couldn't believe it! Stereo imaging vastly improved, and it seemed as if a vail was taken off the audio. Before that, I never thought the difference would be that pronounced.

When I go to 64 bit system in the future, I'm definitely going to move up to RME, as unfortunately Aardvark is no longer, so there won't be any drivers for it :(

Hi, I am Pretty New to Computer Recording But I have had the Chance to Try a Few Different Sound Cards and I finally Settled with the "M-Audio Delta 44" as it was Within my $200 Canadian Budget and so Far I have been really Pleased with it....

I tried a Couple Cheapo Audigy/Sound Blaster Type Cards but had really bad problems with Backround Noise and Tried a "E-MU 0404" but had Big Problems with it and for the Life of me Couldn"t figure out the Driver settings.....

I use my Delta 44 with "Mackie Traction Studio 2" but I use Different ASIO Drivers called "ASIO4All" which lets me Record useing my 4 Inputs on the Delta 44 Pluss it lets me Record 2 Channles from the Line in on My Integrated Sound Card (18 Bit A/D Converters) at the Same Time as my Delta 44 and I"m sure if I installed Cheapo Sound Card I would Get another 2 Tracks.....

I have a 8 Channell Mixer Hooked up to Inputs 1 & 2 On The Delta 44 which I use to Mic My Drum set...I usually Play the Drum Tracks First and then Do the Bass and Guitar Tracks Leads and Vocals and then add any Effects after words and then do the Mixdown in 64 bit Mode and so far It sounds Pretty Good even though I have only Been Playing with it for 2 weeks and I am going to get some Rackmount effects so I can Rout them through the Mixer and see what type of effects I can get.....

Cheers

There seems to be that kind of difference between the Terratec EWS88MT and the EMU 0404 also. The EWS has a closed sound compared to the clear, open sound of the EMU.

I went from using a 1980's something Yamaha PM -430 , 8 channel
mixer to a Mackie 1604 vlz and I thought somebody changed drumsets on me !!! Yeah , like a vail was lifted is a good way to put it !!

I'm loving my Delta66 with Omni I/O.

Never had a driver problem - and nobody i know with an M-Audio card has, so I'm a little confused about those comments...

Terratec EWS88MT

I've gotten through the stickly patch getting my new (used) EWS88MT to work with (n-Track and) Cool Edit Pro 2- thank you's particularly to lpdeluxe and thajeremy- and I'm very happy with it.

I commented earlier in a thread that the EMU 0404 seemed to have a brighter, clearer sound than the EWS88MT. I have gone back for the purpose of confirming this, and after properly setting up the Terratec and getting my settings together, I find this to no longer be the case. The Terratec kicks plenty righteous ass- and since pulling it together, I've found no need to keep the EMU 0404 and have returned it. It was a tad irresponsible of me to make that observation publicly before having my act together- apologies to the forum for speaking too soon!

If I were more involved with MIDI-related work, I might have kept it, for the Proteus-X LE, etc... This is not a diss to EMU, the card sounds fine! But I'm more than satisfied with the Terratec.

RME gets my vote

I'm using a DIGI9636 at the moment plus their card that gives me an additional 8 anologue outputs that I use for headphone monitoring purposes...

I used to have an Echo Layla-20.

Man that thing was nothing but a ball of headaches!

1. It literally ran at 120degrees.
2. It had a lot of 60Hz hummmmm. (from the box itself, not in the audio)
3. I never got it to work in any AMD based systems without severe clicks/pops.
4. It was coompletely incompatable with the newest intel chipset.
5. Driver updates were far and few between.

I sold it and got a MOTU 24i/o. Best card I have ever had, not a single complaint.
