has anyone worked out what the fuck polka is yet?

It's in either 4/4 or 2/4, with very heavy emphasis on the second beat. Like oom - PAH, oom - PAH, etc.

that's kinda what i thought. but now it's 3/4 which is the traditional time sig for political death metal polka ballads.

Cool. It's also technically a waltz, then. :D

Kidding. It's nothing as gay as a waltz. Polkas are manly, political, and metallic.

Sorry guys, I haven't had a chance to mess with this yet. I'll give it a test run this afternoon. :o

This is sounding bad ass so far.

Hey Dogman, I'd like to do some bowel shaking back up vocals too!

Travis, your harmony idea sounds cool. I'm envisioning just some big power-chord strums with some quick accent palm-mutes and lots of pick-slides to go along with your main riff. Everything sounds cool so far. I'll play with it some later.

Whydafuk I gotta be leaving now?

You guys should have thought of this idea a month ago!

The way it's looking we might still be going at it when you get back. :D

haven't checked out the sounds yet, but i can't wait to hear everything once i'm home from work and done with drum practice.

hey travis or anyone, if you want some changes to the drum arrangement, feel free. i kinda just threw in a bunch of different rhythm patterns, so you guys can do a rough cut-and-paste job if you want and get them arranged in a way that might be better for the song structure, then i can re-map them in DFHS.

rock on greg. :D

greg and zed, that first riff i posted was kind of just to get the ball rolling i guess. i was hoping we could add a couple more in addition to what's already there to move the song along. my bad greg for not communicating that. :p what do you guys think we should do from here? the drums have quite a bit a variety to work with if we add some new riffs.

well we can elongate the original 3/4 part, like before it goes into the speed picking. maybe run it through a couple times so you can fit some lyrics over it.

the stuff greg added to that first riff sends it off into crushyourheadville. :D i'm thinking we should use that at the peak of the song. elongating the 'oom pah pah' part for the vocals sounds good to me. i'd like to (some how) build the whole thing up to a peak before the end. maybe add a clean part in the beginning with some accordian over it? i'm curious to find out what obi is going to do with that trombone too.

i'm gonna try to dig a couple more parts up and rough arrange the guitar. i suck balls at arrangement so if anyone has any ideas spit em.

Travis - Yeah, I knew that was just a rough idea you laid down. No big deal. This is way out of my comfort zone though, so I had to get a feel for it anyway. Zed posted that longer raw drum track. Maybe piece what youve done already along with a new riff or two over that longer drum track, and that can be like "ground zero" for the song. I'll just add my own thing based on what you come up with.

Zed - Yeah I think thats a good idea. Its probably best if we keep it somewhat simple. Making the "verse" parts longer should be fine. I have another idea for the buzzsawing guitar during the fast parts to go along with Travis's rapidfire palm-mutes to give ot more 'texture'.

cool deal greg. i definitely want to add a couple more riffs but i didn't want to be an ass and hog it all up. :p i'll try to add the new riffs and chop up zed's drums to fit it all together. it will probably be tomorrow before i can post another rough track.

btw, i'm way out of my comfort zone too. i haven't tried to play any metal stuff since i was a kid and a single coil loaded strat ain't exactly the right tool for the job. :D

Thats cool man. Come up with whatever you want, and I'll make my ideas fit.
