political death metal polka ballad

i think i'll start with drums and travis can come up with a basic riff or something, or we'll do both at the same time and see what we can come up with. the accordion player will be in the house on probably saturday and sunday, so if we just hve a basic idea by then, i can have him record a bunch of stuff and we can use that. he's really good, very fast so i'm sure he can work with death metal tempos haha. once that's done we can continue to add to it and stuff, so Greg you can pitch in at any time after sunday.

Yeah a trombone would be cool. :D

Yall just do whatever, and I'll see what I can add sunday or monday. I'm pretty limited to punk rock style riffing anyway, so I may just screw it all up. :o

so far the Political Death Metal Polka Ballad Society lineup looks like:

Vocals: Dogman
Guitar: Travis"inFlorida"
Guitar2: Greg_L
Bass/Trombone: Obi-Wan zenabI
fake Drums: zed32
Accordion: anonymous studio musician, or possibly OWz :D

this should be fun.

here's the lyrics.

Here are some lyrics that we ought to parody...

"Beer Barrel Polka"

There's a garden, what a garden
Only happy faces bloom there
And there's never any room
For a worry or a gloom
There's music, and there's dancing
And a lot of sweet romancing
When they play the polka
They all get in the swing
Everytime you hear that Oom-pah-pah
Everbody feels so tra-la-la-la
They only want to come back for one thing
They crowd around and sing trolly-olly-ay
And you hear that rumble on the floor
It's a big (HA HA HA HA) surprise you're waiting for
Then all at once everybody, everybody, forms a ring
(Spoken: Come on everybody get up and form a ring. That's
the way, everybody get up and form a big ring. That's the way.
Then all at once you form a ring. Everybody get up and form a
ring. Here's a tenth of everybody....)
For miles around, you'll hear them sing

Roll out the barrel, We'll have a barrel of fun
Roll out the barrel, we've got the blues on the run
Zing Boom Terrara
Join in a glass of good cheer
Now it's time to roll the barrel
For the gang's all here (Spoken: Take it away boys!)

____________________________________________________________
Ok, Here's Mine: (to be sung in a cookie monster voice, polka ballad style, maybe with a mexican corrido reprise of the chorus... and that guy who sings from the minaret...)

"Green Zone Polka"

by Obi-Wan zenabI

There's a Green Zone, what a Green Zone
Mortars and Iraqi IEDs boom there
And there's never any room
For a worry or a gloom
There's gunshots, and there's dying
And a lot of redeploying
When they slay the soldiers
Put your ass in a sling
Everytime you hear that Oom-pah-pah
Everbody feels so tra-la-la-la
They only want to come back for one thing
They crowd around and drill for the oily-oily-ay
And you hear that rumble by the door
It's a big (Boom Boom Boom Boom) surprise you're waiting for (IED!)
Then all at once paramedics, medevac, forms a ring
(Spoken: Come on everybody get up and form a ring. That's
the way, everybody get up and form a big ring. That's the way.
Then all at once you form a ring. Everybody get up and form a
ring. only 49 percent disabled! Back to Iraq....)
For miles around, you'll hear them sing

Roll out the Humvee, We'll have a barrel of fun
Roll out the Humvee, we've got the blues on the run
"Global War on Terra!"
Join the army and don't be a queer!
Now it's time to roll the barrel
For the gang's all here (Spoken: Take it away boys!)

How do yall do the tracking? Are you gonna send me a stereo file of whats done already, and I just send back my track on its own to get mixed in or what?

i'm not sure. i'd like to collab with you on the guitar riffs. should i hold off until sunday / monday? i track with reaper. i'm not sure if anyone else here does. reaper has the ninjam plugin now that would be really good for near real time collabing.

I use Cubase LE. I can import a wav or MP3 and play along to it. If I just have a drum+guitar mixdown file, I can probably come up with something using that and just send back my track on its own for yall to mix in.

I'll PM yall my email.
