I also think the Pod has a pretty decent delay, chorus, and wah.

Yes?

I have a POD XT and I love the thing. The versitallitiy of the thing is just great. I can be home recording one minute with it and a half hour later I can be playing a gig with it. I dont need to haul an amp because I can run it direct to the board and bypass any outside amp coloring the sound. From what I have heard the V-AMP is made out of plastic, my pod has a metal chassis. I dont worry about it at a gig and it has never let me down.

FYI, The V-Amp Pro is all metal rack case.

I have to agree with AlChuck here. I don't want the POD fighting with the natural color of a guitar amp. That's why I jack it into a clean power amp or even reference monitors and then mic up a cab or the reference monitor. That way the amp model comes through without additional coloration.-Richie

What I meant was a clean sounding amp or PA. I did not mean a "amp" by any means.

Since I have a Pod XT and not the rackmount XT Pro it would follow that I would NOT be talking about the rackmount V-AMP either. The regular V-AMP is plastic my regular POD is not, that is the comparison I was making.

I have a POD right now and I love it. I want to upgrade to a POD Pro, and I will eventually. Right now it's sitting in my rack on a home-made "rack mount". I bought the POD stand thingy when I first got my POD. I used it on a mic stand two times and after that just stuck it under my amp's handle. This summer I upgraded to a Marshall 1960B Vintage and a Mesa 20/20. I traded the local guitar shop a Valvestate 4x12 that was given to me by my best friend for the 1960B!! I was on cloud 9 that day and I've only fallen to about 5 since!!! That was an awesome deal... but anyways, on our most recent album we used a POD pro and a Vetta and I loved both of them. I get an AWESOME sound out of my POD through the Mesa and the Marshall. The only upgrade I want right now is a POD Pro because it is only 2 spaces and looks much better in my rack than does the POD stand bolted to a rack shelf... lol... and it also has digital outs and I could really use those for recording (our band is about to invest in some gear... prolly a MOTU 828 and a Mackie BabyHUI). I play in a Christian band and we play everything from alternative Praise and Worship to Christian Metal (check www.mp3.com/uncondemned... our new stuff is much better, tho, and will be completed and up soon). I wouldn't trade my POD for anything but a POD Pro. As is, I don't have any plans of getting rid of it, HOWEVER I've considered buying an MP-1 or something similar and using that WITH my POD and using MIDI to control it. I couldn't ask for more for what I have (except the Pro version). I am a happy POD user! Sorry this post has been so scatter-brained... lol. I hope someone is able to find SOME sort of useful info out of it. :)

Try resale value. these things can be useful but overall, its pretty gimmicky and my bet is the novelty of the thing will wear off for most people and they will want something else.

So what can you get for a used V-amp these days?

I paid 130 Bux for my V-AMP2 over a year and a half ago. I can get 100 Bux with no probs.

No "gimmics" with a V-AMP2, just great sound.

A friend just bought a used POD Pro for 200 Bux. It sold originally for 700 Bux Street. Resale value?

Same here Bro, except I've been using my V-AMP2 recording, jamming, rehearsing, and live for 1.5 years. The "plastic" thing has survived several hard falls due to stupid morons.

The thing is, I probably would have opted for the V-Amp had I discovered it before I started reading the hype about the Pod. I will say this, I havent really heard anyone who owns a V-Amp ever complain about the sound they get out of it. On the other hand you go over to the L6 message boards and there are quite a few Pod owners that feel that they should be getting better sound for the price they paid.
