Pod and Compressor

I am thinking about adding an external rack mount compressor to my Pod Pro rig. More specifically I am thinking about running a 2-channel unit with one channel before the pod input and the other channel either after the pod or in the effects loop of the pod. My thought is that I want to be able to keep a lot of the picking characteristics but then still compress the overall signal to balance out the output volume. Is this crazy? Is the instrument level of my guitar into the line level input of a rack mount compressor going to be a problem? Specifically I am looking at a DBX 266.

It won`t work,a guitar signal into the DBX will be too low...

And if it was loud enough it wouldn`t matter.......

So it would require a foot pedal/guitar minded stomp box? Or Line 6 to set up the compressor as a global effect.

Suggestions?

An Boss CS-2/3 is a great compressor in front of an amp, try it out!!!

The dynamics of an performance is controlled by you only, a compressor will affectc the "sound" , not your playing......

hell yaeh, seriously.

Go dig out Van Halen Fair Warning
to hear the BOSS Compressor in Eddie's guitar rig.

Right on...

Does anyone use a compressor after the Pod (or any other preamp) when playing live?
