Hi Fellas, i've been mixing this song and i think i have it sounding pretty good. the problem is i went to a mates house today, heard on his truths (8" woofer series) and it sounded like shite. all treble no bass whatsoever . like i said it sounds good on my rokits and on some decent home theatre/speaker setups.

let me know how it sounds!

Cheers

here's the file:

I might be doing something wrong, but the only thing I see that says "FREE DOWNLOAD" is an ad to access your PC from anywhere. It looks like I have to sign up to listen to your song, which I don't do. Am I missing something?

I almost stopped in the "register" thing, but, Ok, I decided to follow the steps, put my e mail and...received something like a 10mb link/archive to download a driver to install I don´t know what/where.... to listen your mp3.Sorry...

Ciro

i get to begin download and it says done :( no mp3 no "save as"

I don't listen to jazz a whole lot, so I might not be familiar with the genre.
The two things I hear that could be improved are with the piano. I think there's too much room on the piano, meaning, I'm hearing it reflect off the walls, etc. I also think the piano is too low in the mix, it should be the main focus.

I know it's not rock, but maybe the kick could come up a hair more.

Cheers,

I can see what the Chilmeister's talking about, but I really dig what I hear. I really wish it was longer. The playing seemed to be great.

just for you guys, here's the whole thing. i've taken into account whats been said and i've killed some piano reflections and boosted the kick a little

i should explain the setup.
very budget i must say:

grand piano recorded in mono with an se 2200a about 1foot above middle c
kit recorded in stereo (extent of my audio device at this stage) with the se2200a on the right and a berry c2 on the left (above snare and hats(recorderman method)) all running through a tascam us122l through cubase le4 running various reverb/maximizer/eq plugins

here's the link :)

thanks for the feedback :)

Yeah man! I really like this. This is not my type of music usually. But I like it a lot. The drums can come up a bit (keep in mind, I'm a drummer, so you probably wouldn't want me to mix your music :D ), but everything's sitting in it's place, and you created a nice sound canvas with the panning, etc.

thats me on drums and the girlfriend on grand :)

drums - yamaha stage custom, various cymbals,
piano - bechstien grand
bass was cubase's own midi bass

thanks dude :)

Hi audi:

Overall sounds good, but trying to help with the issues you talked about:

ac bass is not as well balanced as it should be -is a bit low in the mix and lacking something near 80hz and has some excess in the 120/240hz range - maybe it explains mix not translating so well to the other room.

A better separation/definition piano/ac bass (frequency range / stereo ) would be nice.

About the highs I disagree, sounds good at least here.
500 hz and down are a more problematic area.
Remembering, everything "IMO"...hope it helps.

Playing is excellent,tks for sharing!

Yeah, a really nice change from all those scream-fests we get here sometimes. :D I like the change you made to the piano. I'll agree with Rami about not listening to his advice on drums... :D I think they sit just fine they way they are.

Very cool. I like it a lot. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
