If money is not an issue, then I would go for the Mackie or a Soundcraft but, if money is an issue, then
the Eurodesk (
MX9000) that Darren_h2000 suggested is a good choice.
I use two of these boards linked together in my studio and they suit me fine. They are not as clean as the mackies at high gain but if your on a budget they will give you the most bang for the buck.
BE FOREWARNED: As usual, I am sure a lot of people will piss on me again for suggesting this but remember, dollar for dollar these boards will get you up and running faster than anything else and if you plan it right like me, they will pay for a new board faster than anything else. After a year and a half of problem free board use, I have earned enough money to buy my soundcraft ghost.
Now, I hear a lot of people complain that the Behringer boards are problematic and break down a lot but, my guess is these people that hate them so much and say this have probably never owned one. I own two and never had a problem.
Like I said, when I brought the Mackie and the Behringer home, the only difference I found was the Behringer was a little noisier at HIGH gain levels. Other than that, no difference.
Someone may also try and tell you that the Behringer has a dumb layout, well, look at the Behringer and Mackie side by side and you will see that they are almost identical. As a matter of fact, there is some legal issue between the two companies where Mackie feels that Behringer "ripped off" their design.
Judge for yourself but just another option for you!!
Cheers!
(I await the slams!)
