Just got done doing this today. It's funny, the band needed it in a hurry to put on a compilation, it only took 3 days, and it sounds better than anything i've ever done. Mostly because the band was legit as fuck and were extremely tight (i'm not used to that). Also, they all had really good equipment and knew how to use it, haha. Also, if you are fans of hardcore / metal / rock, or just heavy music in general, then definitely check it out, good band: Off With His Head . This song, along with the other one will be available on their myspace later tonight, which I linked with their name. =]
Drums:
Presonus Firepod
- Kick: AKG D112
- Snare: Shure SM57
- Toms: Audix F10's
- Overheads: R0DE NT5's
Compressed the kick / snare, EQ'd everything. Added reverb to snare / toms.
Guitars:
MBox 2
- Both guitars were 5150's, different tubes / tone in each one.
- Sennheiser e609 (between center / edge of cone).
A little EQ, and delay on the "solo-ish" part.
Bass:
MBox 2
- Rack Mounted Sans Amp
EQ, Compression, Automation.
Vocals:
MBox 2
- Shure SM57 (I like using it for this type of music).
Put up a really dense blanket, shaped it into a "U" had the singer stand in it. =] Put some EQ, Compression, Reverb, and Delay on some parts.
I recorded drums with the Firepod and imported them into Pro Tools, from there everything was recording and mixed in Pro Tools. =] This is the best i've ever felt about one of my mixes. Any criticism, good or bad, is greatly appreciated. Please take a listen:
Thanks ahead of time, I appreciate it. =]
Take care,
Adam.
