Cross-posting, borderline spam, crappy music, you are a real triple threat of suck. The mic has a bad rep because it is alousy mic for the money, as many mambers of this board know from first-hand experience. There are very useful mics for the same money, which only exacerbates the Behringer's crapitude.

Stop it.

BTW, in the future, if you are going to flood the Internet with a cut and paste endorsement of a shitty product, consider using correct spelling and grammar in the post.

Homestudioguy,

'Try before buying' and also 'try something you can't afford for comparison' are good advice and I will do just that.

Probably, like many others, I feel a bit of a fool trying out mics in a shop. If I had a good voice then I would take the opportunity to demonstrate to the shop personel just how good it was. Unfortunately my voice is not good but it's the only one i've got so
they will just have to grin and bear it. I have to!

Nevertheless, I've decided that it would be plain stupid to buy without trying first. One
has only to read a few of the discussions in this forum to realise that mics with
entirely different characteristics are recommended to solve exactly the same problem. I'ts not that people mean to confuse, it's that we all hear things differently. If you do buy without trying first you could well end up with a mic that doesn't do the trick for
you however much it's recommended.

One of the things I do put some faith in is the THE LISTENING SESSIONS mic graph.
Most of the reviews of mics I have read broadly confirm an individual mics position in
the graph. However, the graph cannot give the complete picture as it can't cover everything and many mics have not been tested yet so they don't appear at all.
Interestingly, one of the things that's often mentioned in Hi-Fi forums but rarely gets a mention in this forum is the question of outright 'resolving power'. I don't mean the 'tone' of a mic, whether it's bright, dull, harsh, or has other colouration but how much it resolves very fine detail. In the hi-Fi world obtaining this is usually the result of using good quality materials and circuit design, plus an inspired designer and endless hours
of testing in an anechoic chamber and in listening rooms. This is a particular hobby
horse of mine as I have been interested in Hi-Fi equipment for about 30 years.

So here is my shortlist, plus I will take my Octava MK319 as an existing reference point. I really do hope one of them will do the trick for me.

MICS I CAN AFFORD......AT4040, SE mini, ADK Hamburg, ADK Vienna

MICS I CAN'T AFFORD BUT TO TRY FOR COMPARISON..... AT4050, Studio Projects T3
