I had to reinstall my os system on my mac. So I also had to reinstall pro-tools 7. But during the launching of PT a message comes up that saids, "unable to locate digidesign hardware. make sure your hardware is connected and turned on(which it is). Click ok when the hardware is ready?

I need to record some important materials please advise me what to do. Thanks!

Sounds like a driver issue? Try avid's site to see if you can get the drivers separately. What hardware are you using?

I don't know if this is the same in 7 as it is in 9, but go to Setup, and check to see that your Playback engine is set to whatever your connected hardware is. Good luck.

Think this is true for 7, fairly sure I had this issue on the first install.

Hopefully you got it working, but if not another thing that use to be common with some 002's was a power harness issue. It would not allow pro tools to see the device. Doubt it's the issue but something to check out.

go to system profiler and look under firewire.

if it shows unknown device or something like that, you need drivers from avid,
