As far as the notation thing and reading Ghost, thats not what I'm talking about. I don't read either. Ever heard of nashville notation. It's for cheats like me The 60 chord system is EASY. I bet you know it by another name. Like Roman Numerals for chords. You know. I IV V for E A B in the Key of E, right?

The 60 chords refer to this.
There are only 12 notes, therefore
There are only 12 keys
There are only 5 qualitys:
Major, Minor, Dominate, Half Diminished, Diminished

5 X 12=60 chords

Take a major scale such as C
The notes are as follows:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 1
C D E F G A B C (NO FLATS AND SHARPS)
The Roman Numerals are
I II III IV V VI VII I
In any key the
I is ALWAYS MAJOR
II is ALWAYS MINOR (m)
III is ALWAYS MINOR
IV is ALWAYS MAJOR
V is ALWAYS DOMINATE(flatted 7th)
VI is ALWAYS MINOR
VII is ALWAYS HALF DIMIN.(flatted7th,flatted 5th)

Therefore you can build chord charts in ANY KEY and quickly transpose.

another Im IVm V I VI II V/ V+5-9 Im (minor blues)


add alterations and extentions(shown above)


Anyway, didn't mean to turn this into a music lesson, just a demonstration. It can be much more complex....... ie......G9=Bhalfdim(VII)

Actually, I am not familiar with that system you graciously documented above!!

About all I can figure out is those fret board charts which have dots representing where to put your fingers and thumb, ( in my case ) and I learn chords that way.

I guess being left handed, playing a right-handed guitar, and never having any formal guitar lessons, I developed my own way of playing and learning !!

In any event, a blues song generally only uses three chords and I can figure out the chords to be used by looking at the chord charts which I have somewhere around and by ear, which is my preferred method of learning a tune.

When you play a blues progression, you will only need to use 3 chords (isn't life simple?). The principle of I-IV-V tells you which chords to use, as follows: a slightly oversimplified approach, which happens to work for the keys of A,C,D,E and G, is to
Simply count out the letters of the alphabet starting with the key you're playing in.

The first, fourth and fifth letter you count represent the chords that you will be using in your blues progression.

For the key of A we count: A-b-c-D-E-f-g

Thus, for the key of A, we will be using A-D-E as our I-IV-V progression. Likewise if you count out starting with E, you will find that for the key of E we will use E-A-B as our I-IV-V.

Music Theory lovers refer to the I as the "tonic", the IV as the "subdominant", and the V as the "dominant". I won't use these terms in this lesson, but knowing that may help you understand what other people are talking about sometimes.

YEAAA!!!!

Just won the last tool on my list.!! Now I have an almost all powermatic shop. Thats like top of the line TASCAM. POWERMATIC tablesaw, jointer, planer and a BIG Laguna bandsaw. And another Delta unisaw for lockmiters. I already have all the other stuff. Just won the planer, and the guy called me back about an hour ago and told me it is BRAND NEW, still on the shipping pallet. Thats a $3200 tool, and I got it for $900. YES YES YES!!

Well I better make some money now or my wife is gonna be PISSED!

AND, I still want the 3700. Well at least I have the tools to do it now. On with the show. Anyone need something built? Just kidden. I'd build anything for you guys for materials alone. Thats the least I could do for all you have shared with me. And if I have the materials, give me a yell., be happy to do it. Besides I have some pretty unique materials and hardware. Stuff that NOBODY has. Well, most shops anyway.

Well, time to start checkin the truck out for a LONG ass trip Damn I dread this. Especially the drive from Sacramento to LA. Hiway 5 through the valley this time of year especially sucks. BORING! UGLY! Only way to do it is at night.
Time to pack. This is about a 2000 mile round trip and I hate it. Oh well, at least the Oregon portion is beautiful. Later.

Well I took a little 140 mile drive to chicago yesterday to Deltronics repair shop with my 388 recorder.
Pulled up to the address Billy gave me and it was a Nail salon
Not a good sign. so we gave them a call and found out they where just 2 blocks south on the same street.

2911 north Halsted

Parking was no problem cause they have a 15 minute loading area infront of the store now.
It was kinda nice to here the guys say he had worked on close to 100 of these recorders and how great of a they are. He also said he would set the bias on my machine for nothing when he got it done.

Now the wait for the dreaded call of How much its going to cost me to get fixed.

And to Ghost Dont you have that tune done yet?

I apologize for not working on the blues tune today.

I was working on a collaboration with Studioviols. He wrote some lyrics and posted them over in the song writing forum and I grabbed the words and recorded a quick tune today for that and posted it up at the mp3 clinic.

I will do my best to get to our stuff next week as I am wiped out from this little project that I completed in a little over a week's worth of writing on my keyboard.
