pitch down effect...

hey guys does anyone know hot to do that pitch down effect thats used to camouflage the bad words in hip hop/rnb music?? exp:

Britney Spears - Phonography 2:59

there are millions of songs with this effect but i cant remember them now...:/

u shure its a sampler??? which sampler u can pitch samples with? but not the whole sample but just part of it...
 
Depending on which DAW you use, you can use pitch shift on the tracks or group you want to effect.

Any sampler. bounce just the part you want to pitch shift, load it in a sampler, and twiddle the Pitch wheel. Depending on the sampler you may need to tweak the amount of pitch bend the pitchbend controller will do.

Now, regular pitch bends will affect the speed of the sample as well, i.e if you bend down, it will get slower, if you bend up, it will get faster.

If you don't want that, you have some other options.

NI Kontakt has granular mode that will allow you to do pitch bends while keeping the time constant.

In most DAWs there is some kind of a pitch bend utility. However, only few allow you to do it over time. latest versions of Cubase (I think 4 and up) have pitch envelopes that you can apply in the audio editor which will allow you to do this for example, and you can choose whether you want the playback speed to remain the same or slowdown/speed up along with the pitch shift.
