I'd like to download a car too.

And where do you guys get the idea that these companies are that big? We're talking music applications here - the economies of scale just aren't there. These companies aren't MS, they aren't even Adobe or some such.
i agree...very well put!!Halion said:Check your fact. Steinberg was recently bought by Yamaha. Don't try to tell me that ain't a big-ass company. Digidesign ain't doing bad either.
When I steal an apple, the former owner of that apple has both 1 less product to sell, and no income from that product. When I download illegal software, the owner still has the same power to sell his product. That is why it is called "soft"ware.
same as music downloads....if you never downloaded a song from the net then u can judge....if so its the same thing...fraserhutch said:That's BS, and just further rationalization.
So it's OK to steal from big companies, not small ones. And you are the arbiter of who it's OK to steal from?
It's still theft.
And FWIW, there are one or 2 large companies, but they are not the majority.

I just wish everyone would stop pretending that there is a valid reason or argument or excuse to steal software because there just plain isn't. Its too bad that they don't have the balls to stand up and say they did it, they know its not right, but made the decision to do it anyways instead of pretending that somehow it was OK to do it or because of their own circumstances (insert the poor me victim story here) that they were somehow entitled to it.
TravisinFlorida said:another good point you brought up..............the radio is a damn joke. I rarely hear anything that I want to hear on the radio. It's like a big advertisement for music that sucks.
jINXBEATZ said:who is it stealing from...if you getting it from peer to peer. its someone giving it to you...you not physically going into there place of business and stealling it....its like peer to peer music. you can record your fav. song off radio when they play it...and some one records a song and your request that song thru peer to peer thats stealing?? c'mon same thing....
Halion said:I don't think it is "right". It is very much wrong. However, it is so damn easy, and it's "generally accepted". Maybe not by all of you, but by far the most people I talk to agree with me.
Why are there cd/dvd burners? To make backing up your stuff easier? Why are there mp3s? To make sharing your own made music on the internet easier? Fuck that. The western world as largely accepted it. I would not be surprised if lead programmers of producst like Windows, Photoshop and Cubase use illegal software themselves.
