It has nothing to do with being poor or young. It isn't for people who don't take the time to learn about what they are doing.

Recording is a skill and a technical endevor and an art. You need to understand the equipment, you need to know where to put the mics, and you need to know how all this is going to fit together to create your vision. That is what you need to be good at it.

For just starting out, you will probably not run into any situation where something will short out unless you do something really stupid like hook your computer soundcard up to the speaker output of your guitar amp.

Being poor or young are just excuses. You can get something done and learn things using a boom box with a built in mic.

Anyway, recording ain't for pussies. You might blow something up, that's why you need to know what you are doing. That's also why you can't learn everything you need to know inside of a week.

I quoted this 5 times because I think you really need to let it sink in.

We are not here to spoon-feed you everything. If you're not willing to do some reading and learning on your own, then you're not going to find people very patient. I'm starting to lose my patience already.

I'm going back to the grownups' table now.

Good luck.

Har! You had to remind me of those dark days! "OK, you turn up, I'll turn down. You over there, turn your highs waaaay up. I know it sounds like ass, but the tape won't."

If the the original poster is for real, and not Aicehole back to annoy us from a different angle, keep reading the angry posts. The point is, everybody here could spend the rest of the week posting everything we know, and it won't matter. You're asking "how do I be an NFL quarterback? How do I throw a screen pass? I need to know by Sunday, I'm trying out for the Colts."

Learning recording is work. If I have screamed obscenities at my gear and swore I'd sell everything once, I've done it at least twenty times. For real. And I still suck. The concensus opinion on the board, and I tend to agree, is that if you refuse to educate yourself on the absolute basics, given the vast wealth of information available from a vast number of sources, you simply lack the disciple to record on a serious level. Gear won't matter, and not even talent would matter, you just have to be willing to do work. Recording and mixing a five-minute song probably takes me about four hours, if everything goes smoothly. I've been at this diligently for five years (that doesn't count the boom box), and probably $10k+. Both of those figures are bush-league around here.

i already read that farveiw and i dont think i liked that one dont remember though i read like 5 sites already in the past like 2 or 3 days

I'm not trying to be a dick, either. Most of us have spent many years with audio, learning and perfecting our techniques. It's not an easy or cheap process if you want it to sound good.

Again, good luck.

Try learning to spell too while you're learning how to record music. It should come in handy.

You'd be wise to listen to sdelsolray. If you can't write properly, you're going to have a seriously hard time getting a good job.

If I saw a resumé that said "I hav good skilz" I'd toss it out right away.

Yeah, I know, this is the internet. But bad habits can be hard to ditch. If you can't communicate effectively, you're gonna be fucked out there in the real world. No lie.

How you speak reflects who you are. Period. If you talk street, that's all you're going to be perceived as regardless of what you may have to offer. Fair or not, that's the way it is.

I know i was just kidding i typed that that way on purpose and i hate ghetto street talk or what ever you wana call that crap.
