Yikes!... those tapes aren't anything special as far as performance... they just look cool. Fun for collectors, but a waste of time and money for recording. ;)

I had recently saw a photo of a cassette with those type of tapes and thought it would be cool to have a few.................but not at those prices! I have no idea who makes the tape in the "Reel Cleer" cassettes. I was thinking TDK made some cassettes like that a while back and figured I would try to locate some.............oh well. Not a necessity but something a little different to have spinning around in my 424mkII.:p

I still have the one that came with my old Porta-One. It came prerecorded with examples to help a noob understand the machine. I think I eventually recorded over those Tascam demo tracks!

That and those Maxell UD open reel tapes go for crazy, insane money these days. Why? Dunno...:eek::D;)

whOA.

isn't that against ebay policy or something?

for instance in online brokerages if you type a price and are off by a decimal place and for some reason the trade executes i think you can usually get out of it. Obviously you wouldn't want to buy a stock at 1080.00 when it is offered at 10.80. I know its not exactly the same but, that makes it even more ridiculous in a way.

 Sweet Jesus!

Do you think the people that buy these tapes actually plan to record anything onto them?

Today sanity is not applicable.

People buy mp3 players.
oh, wait! ...
... people buy mp3 files.

They actually! willingly give up some money for it.
:D
********
but, then, what is money today?
so,
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

ok, here's a thought.
When you see or hear something that seems to be totally crazy and out of whack, before drawing a conclusion, look around and notice something that is opposite and yet is totally and unconditionally accepted as a norm.
Take a deep breath. Take a look at it like for the first time. And you may just discover a REAL insanity, that will first make your hair smoke and saliva boil and then your sweat freeze and your teeth crash :D:D:D
It may be a rather scary experiment, though.
You've been warned.

You know, this makes me wonder. If blank cassette tapes are going for that much..........................I think I still have some unused blank 8-tracks somewhere.:p I could make a freaking FORTUNE!!!:D:D

Technical analysis says to ignore news events. The fundamentals will not help you predict current pricing. You cannot have all of the currently available information. The only things that represents all of the currently information is the price. If the price seems too high that is only your perception. The price cannot be wrong. The price IS the market.

Except in this case nothing has traded. That is just a way high asking price.

Maybe so. However, if someone is actually stupid enough to purchase 9 tapes for $800..................I would have no choice but to hunt the buyer down put my boot sideways in his ass for being so stupid.:eek:

I've seen those tapes listed $79 BIN many times. I have no idea if anybody ever bought them though for eighty bucks a piece, so I can't tell. I've seen people bidding and buying them for over 40 bucks or so many times. I ve seen people buying them used for 20 bucks or so.
- Why people do it?
hmmmm, my answer would be:
- People do things.

$43 (as of this post) for ONE (1) quantity, as in single, cassette??? Wow!

It's amazing how much "reel" cassettes are fetching on epay.
Cause they look good and dress up that fancy deck.:D

Have you seen those Metal shell ones where you can change the cassette reel in them. They can get expensive too.:D

Even though they don't realy make tape anymore there is still plenty for recording.

You can almost bet the buyers have also paid $4,000.00 for a 20-ft length of exotic speaker cable and another $2,000.00 to suspend it with web form the rare African Barking Spider. :D
