Here is a question I wasnt sure where to post.

I am running my own project recording studio.

I have a full time job and do recording on week nights and weekends when I can.

I am considering finding someone to run my studio while I am working just to keep a flow of income even if it is just a little extra.

What's a fair business arrangement for someone to run it on the side?

Would it be based off of a percentage of your hourly recording rate?

Say I charged $35 per hour for recording sessions.

I have seen Studios that charge $40 per hour and rent out to engineers for $20 per hour.

Anyone done this before?

you can do it either way...pay the engineer money, sort of like he's an employee to you.

Or treat him like a freelance engineer and rent out your studio to him or the bands. Unless you're good friends with the guy and you don't care, I wouldn't take a percentage, I'd just charge a flat rate.
Depending on the quality of your studio will depend on what your rates should be. Let your guy decide on his engineering costs.

Thennnnn taxes gets into it all...but that's for another post and someone else to answer ;)
