Paul Reed Smith guitars

Why, thank you C7. I never thought I was good enough to be "stuck up". :)

Pete- The guitarist on 'Tigerlily' was Jennifer.......somebody. I forget her last name, but she was a very good guitar player. I hung with her and Natalie for a few hours in Louisville when they were on tour for that album. That was the first time I played on a PRS. Her main guitar was a whale blue Custom24. Probably one of the artist, or whatever they were called then, guitars because the top was very nice. She was a very good guitar player, lots of feeling in her playing. And the only good female lead guitar player I have personally met...not that there aren't others out there :)

I dunno who famous plays a PRS, but I also can't name many people who play a Fly Deluxe...just me and Phil Keaggy. :D

H2H - hanging out with Nathalie, that's cool. Is she a freak or what?

I have to admit, as I'm sitting here thinking about it (and not working), I like the guitar on Tigerlily. But it's more to do with the playing style than actually liking the sound of the guitar. I think she uses some effects on there-- a little chorus maybe? Chorus really changes the quality of the tone significantly to my ears. Anyway, to me, it's not the pure guitar tone that shines on that album.

creed guy

Hey, I'm watching VH1, and I think I just spotted the guitarist from Creed playing a black PRS.

Ok, thanks for listening.

I would consider Creed mildly famous. But I wouldn't consider the guitarist famous-- who is he? I guess that's what I'm looking for -- who has a really well known, famous guitar sound, playing a PRS? So far, all we've got is:

1 - Guitarist from Tiger Lily
2 - Alanis Morissette's guitarist
3 - BareNaked Ladies guy
4 - Creed's guitarist
5 - Santana, who gets paid a boatload for his name

that's a pretty weak roster of players for a guitar company that supposedly makes high quality guitars.

I think a healthy dose of salt is required when considering the list.

For example,

Melissa Ethridge?

Axl Rose?

Endorsement or not, Page plays Les Pauls as a general rule - his main tool is not PRS. I'd be curious to know how many on the list use PRS as their main axe.

The question was not asked, "Who Endorses guitars for PRS" , but "Who plays a PRS?"

Those people play PRS guitars at some point. I guess like how Clapton plays a LP sometimes, but he is kown for Strats. I did see Dave Navarro playing a PRS on Leno the other night. Anyhows, I really don't care. My personal favorite tone os SRV, and I just can't afford a $25000 vintage Strat! :)

Hixie- I got it from the PRSForum, an interesting site...but kind of mostly guys with way too much money it seems!

H2H

Yeah, but that list is more like, "Who has, at one/any point in their life, owned a PRS, by purchase/donation/endorsement/whatever."

Not, "Who plays a PRS."

yeah.. I too find it hard to believe Page actually played PRS for any extended period of time (or maybe I just don't want to believe)..

this list reeks of the sentiment that the more famous you get.. the more stuff you get for free..

I know for sure "David Grissom" of Storyville plays one, he might not be with Storyville right now, but I seen him up close playing two diff PRS one night. I know he's not as famous as someone like Page, but the boy can play for sure. I shook his hand after the show, the guy had the smallest hands, I could have crushed him...but I didn't:D

David,
The McCarty model was designed when Dave Grissom asked PRS and Ted McCarty to build a guitar for him.

And for the PRS hatter's band wagon jumpers....

this is one hell of a guitar.

and one other thing,

...."Shut up and play yer guitar"

Adam Jones of Tool plays a Gibson Custom Deluxe and an SG run through custom Marshal and Diesel Amps.. He uses the same rig for live and recording..

Justin Chancellor switched from using Music Man and Sting Ray to Wal basses.. His amps include Demeter and Mesa/Boogie..
Cy

Cyrokk is right.

from the tool FAQ:
"Adam uses Gibson Les Pauls, 3 Different Stacks (a Marshall bass head, a Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier, a Dieselhead amp), Seymour Duncan pickups. Ernie Ball, Slinky strings. Effects (mostly Boss pedals): Delay, Flange, Chorus, EQ, a channel switcher for clean/distortion, a wah pedal, and an Epilady occasionally (!).

Adam has 2 rare 1979 Les Paul Customs with Green and Silver metallic bursts. They were discontinued by Gibson because of complaints that the metallic paints was giving the guitar an odd tone. He also uses a Natural finished LP Custom when playing "Prison Sex" live."

in a recent interview somewhere. Adam Jones said he also recorded with an SG on some parts of the new album.
