Nice track heat... as always...

I got nothing that hasn't been mentioned already. Wouldn't be shy about turning the vocals up later either... know what you mean about the cringe factor, but really, there's nothing there to cringe about...

I swear I heard a rocking chair on the porch there in the start... :D

(Actually just acoustic guitar noises, but it could have been a rocking chair on the porch)

Nice...

Hey - Thank you Armistice.

There are a lot of squeaks and whatnot from playing the nylon stringed guitar on this. I was able to erase one particularly offensive sound, but the rest remain. Some amount of random playing noise adds character I think, but too much is distracting. I think I'm often sort of on that line somewhere with acoustic guitars.

I played around with this again last night. I have the lead vocals higher as well as some BGVs. Along the way though, I started tweaking all kinds of other stuff, finally did a mixdown which I thought sounded great, and then listened to this mix again for comparison, and this one sounded much better! Frustrating. I'm thinking everyone's done that before, right? You have a small laundry list of changes to make to an otherwise decent mix, you make all of these edits and think you've got it, but then you play what you already had for comparison and realize that the net result is actually worse...!

We're driving down to Florida this afternoon, so I probably won't get a new mix up before then. Everyone's ideas so far are great in theory, I just haven't been able to actualize them yet!

Sounds great to me. Only thing I'd like different is a little more clarity on the distorted vocals. Your shit keeps getting better. You're doing great. :)

Yay! - thanks Greg. Very reassuring.

lol @ occupying your mom.

What's up Heat?

Been a while since I heard a new tune and I have to say that I love the hell out of it. I'm guessing this is the real drums, if so they sound real damned good. I love your tunes dude. Everything about your tunes are top notch and got a great feel.

Glad you posted this. It's awesome.

Love this! At times it had a Sergeant Pepper's flavor to it. The second version is much better than the first BTW. I think you nailed it.

yeah ive been watching footie all afternoon in the pub and it only makes this sound better...not sure if thats a good thing....but its up the there with can of beer as best heatmiser track..

this was great. I liked how you added things along the way - extra ooo's come in, then a shaker... good accents.

As far as sound critique, I agree with everything PoeticIntensity said. I'd like a little more clarity on the telephone vocals. The tone on the guitar solo has a little too much bite to my ear. A small notch (2-3 dbs) at maybe 2700hz or so might help.

Just nitpicks. It sounded great.

Spent all day yesterday driving from NJ to SC and checked here periodically with an iPhone. I was giving my wife updates like, "they want to buy my music!, and, "they think it sounds like the Beatles!", and, "I'm awesome!". She was not impressed and jus tlooked at me like, "you're a dipshit!".

I want to buy this album now please

Me too! I will pay. :)

I don't think I have enough material, but anyone can download my mp3s for free. I don't think you lose too much fidelity with my music on a 128 mp3 - that's pretty much how it sounds to me on CD anyway...

oh yeah...thats the sweet stuff :D lol

You like the 2nd mix better? Awesome - thanks KC.

trump!!!!!

Haven't seen you on here in ages. You are always so encouraging - thanks! Yes, these are acoustic drums, otherwise they probably would've been more complex. Glad they sound ok. It's tough for me to play even something this basic correctly, and I do drift a little tempo-wise, but maybe not too bad...thanks again - you working on any music yourself lately?

Cool! Thanks GZ. I am relieved that the 2nd mix sounds better. I tried to include most of the ideas from previous comments and I think I like it better too.

Wait, you were drinking in a bar all day watching people play footsie with each other...?

this is awesome

I liked the creepy version better. Thank you for checking it out Mr. Fleet!

Thanks Trip - I always appreciate your input as do a lot of people here.

Yes, the envelope filter guitar part is troublesome. Using either that or a wah wah, there's always one note or one part of the tonal range that just squawks or screeches beyond all the other tones, but I can never seem to find just the right part to cut sweeping across the whole spectrum, without ruining the overall sound. I wanted that to sound round and fat and smooth, but really it is kind of thin and a bit harsh. I've already fiddled with it endlessly though and have frankly given up - one day I will nail that sound! Thanks again.

I'm really happily surprised that a bunch of you liked this one. Didn't seem to have too much appeal to me, but I am of course biased.

Yeah it has been a while since I last posted up here, but I love this place and listening to all the music from you cool people. :D lately I have been jamming with some new guys writing our own stuff and just having fun with playing. I'm hoping to record some of the songs we've been working on and post them here for all to ridicule and laugh at. (I do the singing :p)

Say you're heading to Fl. You lucky dog you. Have fun. :drunk:

I got one minute into the song before I had the impulse to tell you how effin' awesome you are!
You're an incredible musician, man. I dig, appreciate and respect pretty much anything you write.
This song is killer. I love the chorus. This song is like the 'Sling Blade' soundtrack meets Sean Lennon.
(That's a complement, I promise . . . :D)

Yes, please do. We all welcome the opportunity to ridicule and laugh. Seriously though, I don't remember the last time I heard one of your tracks. Maybe years?

I am enjoying Florida to the fullest. It is just as I always find it to be...culturally barren, but the climate - c'est magnifique!

Prop!!!! You appear out of nowhere and give me high praise. Thank you sir. I am not so much of a musician or a songwriter, but I think that maybe I have a good ear and tend to stay within my limits which helps a lot in that regard. I consider you to be a great songwriter and I hope you are continuing your musical pursuits.

The sling blade/sean lennon comparison sounds weird, but actually really cool. I suppose that is sort of what I'm going for in a way. Good to hear from you!

'Tis true that I make myself scarce these days . . . but I promise I'm still up to my old tricks. I just take a lot longer to pull them off. The volume of songs I write is less than it was but I'd like to think/hope there's a resulting spike in quality. I'll start posting songs as I do them, again.

By the way, you're not devoid of praise yourself; thank you! :o
