Hi there ..

I am new to this forum and it seems like I'll spent a lot of time reading and learning here ..

Anyone could help me with this problem?

I have a Yamaha P90 connected to a Roland JV 1010 for home recording but I want to use it for a life performance as well..I know that P90 is not a good midi controller at all but...is there any chance to control the JV 1010 meaning..to tell JV what sounds exactly I want him to play? I had no problem to control the module from the workstation due to its display features..
Or ..is there any chance to do it through the PC software {what kind of?} in the way that I'll be able to store these midi msgs in P90 and won't have to use the PC anymore?

Hope this doesn't sound too confusing ..

Thankyou in advance..

Ian.

It might be possible but it is not really made for that. Its designed to be used with a computer. Still, midi is midi and it will take basic commands. The best way would be setting up user programs in the Jv1010, ir jusr memorizing where the patches are and manually turning the knobs to the right patch.

So what you are saying is .. that its nearly impossible to control the JV 1010 the way I described previously? .. to set up the User means that I will be able to send the sounds I want to play into the patches P90 operates under and then just turn the knob into that patch?
If this is the only chance than its almost impossible to switch sounds the speed I need on a stage..{might be cinsidering buying an extra {proper} midi controller ..

Thank you for your answer anyway...just needed to know what these two instruments are capable of coz reading the manual of JV doesnt give me the answers..

Thanx again..

The typos in the middle make it a little hard to understand what he was saying, but I think he was offering two suggestions. The first is to gather the patches which you're going to use on stage and copy them into the USER bank using a computer. Then, making sure the machine is set to use the USER bank, you can select the patches via the controller keyboard.

The second is to select the bank/patch combination via the knobs on front of the module.

The third and final possibility is to switch bank and patch. You would have to enter the high and low words to switch bank and then switch patch in the normal way. It would be very fiddly. The first option is best IMHO.

To jpmorris :

I guess the first option would work the way and speed I need ..

Thanx a lot ..
