is that one of those copy machines from the 70s??

The whole bottom section is for keeping your tapes, so they don't get lost around the studio.

Dang it Reel now I am ashamed of my collection. ;)

I've seen your collection, you have absolutely no reason to be ashamed. It's the mintiest, neatest bunch of multitrackers you'll see in the state.

This attached image is one of the oldest tape recorders that recorded on plastic tape.
This machine is the "Tonschreiber". Built and designed by the German Magnetophone company (as far as i know).

These machines were used for broadcasting propaganda speeches and martial music during the second world war. And the sound quality of these machines were far better (at that time) than anything the allies had.

I havent been able to find any other information on it, just this image and some background info, if you look closely you will notice that the reel retainers look very much like the ones found on the early Nagra tape recorders.

I've never offered any excuses. My music is hacked and wretched, & I buy what I want to buy. Cash gifts to the wife never hurt, though! ;)

Great photo, Keith. I've never seen one like it, only descriptions from the Americans involved like Jack Mullins, Ranger etc.
Yep the Germans had worked out ac hf bias which put them miles ahead of the rest of the world.
I'm trying to work out what those circular looking wires are on the spools.

Cheers Tim

You don't have to - when excuses are all over around.
You may need one - when you've got non.
That's the way it goes, I suppose... or is it not? :D
