Cool song Joey. Whoever said this is sounds like a mix of Maiden with 90's rock nailed it. I always feel like I'm hearing a hint of Maiden in your stuff. Great guitars and vocals. I think the bass could use more definition. It's plenty there and rumbly, but I'd like to hear more articulation. The drums do sound too compressed. The performance programming is great, but something is off with the sound. They're loud enough, but I'm not
feeling the kick or the rest of the kit. The kick and snare aren't driving the song like they should be.
The intro tells the whole story: The kick and snare sound a little too drum machine like. The reverb isn't helping much - it's kind of metallic and unnatural sounding. The drums sound one-dimensional, but still wet, which is a weird thing to have happen. This carries into the rest of the song. The cymbals are kind of tinny and brittle, but that may be more a result of the 160kbps MP3 compression. Cymbals take a beating from file compression - especially cymbal samples.
Go back to square one with the drum samples. At least maybe try a different snare and cymbals, try a different reverb, less compression on the drums, and put it up at full-bore 320kbps with
www.lightningmp3.com so we can hear it in all it's glory.
