I just get worried when someone goes out and spends a whole lot of money and has no idea how anything works or how it plugs together. What happened to researching the gear first to see if it's what you need, reading books on how audio gear works, then when you buy it you read the manual that came with it to help you put it together?

I think he's just assumed it should be possible... and maybe it is, I'm just not enough of a guru with mixers to work it out. I own all the other bits he has and do similar things, but I'd be using an input mixer to combine channels then out to another mixer / interface / PA / whatever to get the signal to wherever it's going..

But yeah... the thread title can give you the impression he's just bought a bunch of sfuff he can't work but I don't think that's quite the case.

I know what you mean though!
 
I like how some newbies assume mixers are all powerful killing machines that can just dominate as many audio signal inputs with as many outputs as they need!

That's not an unusual assumption. Although I catch the humour of it, I do think that sometimes, we need to remember that what may be easy and straightforward to us isn't so to others. I'm not defending anyone but, the answers to all questions are easy ~ when you know the answers !
 
If they spent 20 minutes reading a few threads or searching the forum it would clear a lot of shit up before they even posted.

I can't comprehend why anyone would go buy a bunch of shit and THEN go ask if it will do what they want??? WTF? i research everything before I buy it.
 
A lot of it is due to marketing hype. From reading the ads, you'd think there was a push-button solution to everything.
