Hey! We are recording 3 songs for a free demo. This is one of the songs. I have basic mix down on the instruments, we record vocals later on the weekend.
Give me your opinions or tips how i can improve this mix I'm pretty much a beginner so i am not good with all that flashy recroding terms

I just used Line6 Studio GX for guitars and bass. Then Pod Farm amp simulators with VST cab impulses.
Drums are EZDrummer /w Metalhead Expension pack.

Also we are gonna use a "Rode NTG-3" for vocals. I think it's a shotgun mic, so what do you think, is it gonna do it's job in vocal recording also?

Anyways, here is the song -> SongWithNoName by Tommi Kuusela on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free

Cheers, Tommi

It's a bit repetitive for my taste and doesn't have much emphasis on an actual musical progression which goes anywhere very often. It brought to mind the type of backing track which is used for a guitarist to show their virtuosity. It's not a genre I have much to do with but I like to listen to a bit of everything so thought I'd offer my thoughts. It might just be that this 50 year old, old fart is not appreciating the style, but I'm quite broad minded and often ponder why so much effort goes into playing technically accomplished phrasing which delivers little emotion, but that's probably my issue and not universal by any stretch. It sounded alright though, maybe the fancy guitar parts could do with a little more gain and a slightly less sterile sound.

regards

Tim
