Here is the place I have been working out of for some time now. http://www.opal-studio.com . The equipment list is missing a couple pieces, like the Oram MWS preamp/eq! But, it is mostly correct currently. The pics are a bit sparse, but you get the idea. The Editing/Mastering Room does not have a pic yet, which is too bad because it is a cool looking room! :) Anyway, enjoy!

I can't get flash loaded to view it...Boeing internal firewall on Unix box prevents software and plug-in down loads.... Maybe some helpful posting of the pics could be done...(hint hint)...

Peace,
Dennis

Hey Sonusman,
Is this the studio that was started by Kevin Han?
I used to live in the PDX area and I remember him
with a studio called opal-(and a glam band called 'Love Bang'!!!. If it is, he's a cool cat. If it is him, it's good to know that he's hopefully making some bread still!

Good luck,
Kirk out.

that's a nice setup mate - you should be having a good time there. I really like those Aphex compellors and H3000.

So which sounds better - the O2R or the Tascam?? :)

John, it is really a case of the worse of two evils!!! ;) Actually I have never touched the Tascam. It is in the Editing/Mastering room and never get's used, but it is available to destroy mixes! :) I don't care for the compellor too much in mixing, and seldomly for tracking. Sort of blands out the vocals when used for tracking, but is a MUST if the Focusrite is used as the pre (as it only has the 6dB attenuation steps....grrrrrrrrr....not good for digital!). We use the H3000 for a couple little tricks at mix time. The Dual Shift setting is just killer on vocals! :)

Kapn' Kirk, yes it is Kevin Hahn's studio. Been open for about 6 years now. Mucho upgrades in the last year or so. LOT'S of Class A pre's now....:D Kevin is playing in a band called The Red Sector now (take a listen!
). This is a mix him and I did a couple weeks ago for a pre-production demo the band is giving out for free to people on the mailing list.

Some local buzz. Some label buzz. We will see what happens. If you remember Mike Collins from Harder Faster, he is playing drums in the band now (on this recording too...had to track it after all the other parts were put down....bummer for him, but he did a great job for doing it all ass backwards!). Johnny Stanford (Harder Faster, Generator (who became Slow Rush when they signed with I think Columbia), See Jane Run) is playing bass for them. The lead singer/songwriter, Jimmi (forgot his last name! damnit!) is the young guy (only 22!) and was a client of Kevin's when this project started. It turned into a band.

Sonusman,
I liked the mix of Kevin's tune. Sounds like you guys are having fun up there in the RAINY Northwest. Portland is a great town- other than the blazers. Tell Kevin that some space kat on the web is requesting to hear a post from the past... a "Love Bang" tune. Anyway just havin fun. You guys take care up there.

Kirk out.
