Hi newbie here. Sorry if this has already been covered but have searched and come up with nothing!

I have a Mackie Onyx 1640 and have noticed that there is a mod available to enable the Perkins eq to be sent to the Firewire port during recording.

The mod is available through this company:
http://www.frontendaudio.com/Mackie-Onyx-1640-EQ-Modification-p/7276.htm

Unfortunately I live in the UK and have searched high and low to try and find anyone more local who can do this modification for me (or even send me the mod details so I can get someone to do it for me). I have noticed a number of these mixers available 2nd hand in the UK so presume there is someone out there who can do it/give me more info how to go about it..?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Sombody on the net has a blogging site if you search for "1640 eq mod diy"
it will come up in the search list. he has a number of pictures and diagrams of the mod. I'm considering doing the mod myself. ( I'm a technician)

cheers

There is a site which shows you how to do it. I came across it a few years back and didnt save it. Just google it and keep searching. I have a 1640 and Im going to buy the new 1640i which allows you to tap the signal after the "Perkins Eq" (plus other enhancements). I will either ebay my old one or keep it as a backup. But you could always sell the 1640 and buy the 1640i.

Yes I could dump the 1640 but I just scored it on Craigslist last Saturday!
with firewire...being a tech I can solder and route wiring fine so I'll probably tackle the eq mod on my own.

I see the i-version seems to have worked around the shortcomings of the old 1640.

cheers RJ
