Also, about the BR-8...

When you record a song(let's say a 4 minute song made up of 7 tracks), how does the machine go about recording it? I know Zip disks are involved but how do they work. I mean can you put an out from the BR-8 and record your final mix on through a cd burner and then erase the stuff on the zip disk to do another song with??????

With the Br8 you have the option of saving your songs on the zip disks, putting them in your drawer, and later having them available if you want to say remix a song, If you dont care you can burn your cd erase the zip and voila! you can start again from scratch. You can pretty much fit one 4 min song , with a couple of v-tracks, per zip disk so id recommend not being thrifty and buying a pack of ten. You'll want to hang on to your good stuff.

Hey!,

Thanx for answering. The company sites never post things that people have questions about!! Anyway, you said you could record a 4 min song. Well, what if you wanted a longer song? How would you do it?

Andrew! :)

When you record a new song you have the option of choosing a recording format (from 3) The first one will give you the least minutes but the best quality and the next will gove you more minutes but less quality and so on. So you can decide if its worth it to you. Theres no way thought to record all 8 tracks for more than abt 4 mins at max so you should decide if you can handle that. Umfortunately the br8 doesnt and never will use 250 zip disks:(

:) Does that mean you can only record a 4 minute song on the BR-8???? What good is that!!?

Andrew! :)

you can try to work around it but thats basically the dealio:)

recording time

Hey, Volks...Shana's right. And personally, I find the 100mb disks extremely limiting. For this reason, I actually regret recently buying the BR-8.

There's one matter about which I would give you additional information to consider however, and that's Shana's contention that the BR-8 never will accomodate the usage of 250mb disks. According to the company, that will be the next upgrade, well in the works. The guy who owns our local music shop here told me that this may be released at the January 2001 trade show. That's not too long to wait.

As is, the BR-8 is terribly limiting time-wise. It is Roland/Boss's biggest faux pas with this unit. Big mistake.

Just a thought for ya. Good luck.
