Hey all,
I had a bit of trouble fixing this sony a while ago.
There was an intermittent fault where audio from one channel kept dropping out, but i did some recapping and re soldering a few joints and it's working well now.
The new problem is playback of old recordings sounds great, but new recordings are really hissy/noisy, and it's clear that the erase head isn't doing it's job properly too cos traces of old recordings can be heard.
The noise is printed even with split new tape so it's not 100% un-erased sound.
This was never a problem before so I'm kinda scratching my head a bit.
Is this as simple as demagging do you think or has something else gone wrong?
