I know Peart used to use Wuhan for his china cymbals ... and I know that now he currently uses Sabian Paragons. Bonzo used Paistes... I'm not sure which ones, i think either 2002 or giant beat... but you better ask soemoen who knows more about that...

bonham used 2002s, 15" sound-edge hihats, 24" ride and im not sure about the crashes but they were somewhere between 18" and 20" and were either mediums or regular crashes.

The cymbal right by his rack tom was either a 16" Crash or sometimes he used an 18" Medium here as well.

The two Crashes were an 18" Ride and a 20" Medium.

I think when he used the bigger floor toms, he used the bigger cymbals.
Hi Endorsement kits from Ludwig included 16", 18", 20", and custom made 22" Floor Toms. The size of the Venue determined the size of the cymbals and the floor toms.

I would highly suggest you get the book: John Bonham: A Thunder of Drums.
It contains all this info, and is really fascinating. Bonzo got Double Bass kits from Ludwig - his first Endorsement kit was a Double Kick.
Carmine Appice got him the endorsement when Zeppelin opened for Vanilla Fudge on their first US tour.

Bonham's Kickdrum technique came about because Bonham was trying to learn Carmine Appice Kick drum licks. He went on tour with Vanilla Fudge and when he got back to England he told them "I learned how he did that!" When asked how, he exclaimed "He's got TWO Bassdrums!"
And of course, when Carmine (God Bless him!) got Bonzo the Endorsement - He got a Double Bass Kit with a pair of 26" Kicks, 2 mounted toms, and 16" through 22" Diameter floor toms.

Now, I just wish I could get ahold of one of those 22" Floor Toms, or a pair of their hoops. I have a 20" Floor, and it is incredible- but has one drawback - 8 lugs are not enough. You need 10 (Hell - 9 would do it. LOL) The head gets a little too wrinkled in areas, because the lugs are spaced too far apart.




Oh, and he used Giant Beat cymbals up through 1972 when the 2002 series was introduced.

I have a hard time matching an old 16" avedis.
I've tried different 18s. 60's 70's
Does anybody know when the mediums went to medium thin to thin?
I think mine is an older thin.
