Hey guys. I haven't been here in a while but I figured if anyone could help before these go to eBay, you could. I have two old mics for sale, both are late 50's/early 60's (?). Would like to sell as pair. Both dynamic - I'm guessing hi-z but I don't have cables to test them. First is a Shure 55SW Unidyne Dynamic with on/off switch on front and a switchable (with a screwdriver) H/M/L on bottom of mic. The connector is a screw on type with three elongated holes - not sure what that's called. Looks like the internal foam has some slight deterioration, but not horrendous. Second is a Turner Dynamic model 330 (It looks like it says that but the nameplate is very worn) bullet shaped mic. This also has a screw on connector bit with one single connection in the center. It also has a removable adaptor so a 1/4" cable can be connected to it. These mics belonged to my father and he had them in the early 70's...they were old then. I'm not sure of their exact age, I'm making an educated guess. Not sure what they're value would be as I know it would matter if they're functional or not. I only assume they are because they were back when my father had them, but I know they haven't been used in 40 years so I can't guarantee it. I know nothing of the specs on these. I'm sure they have some collectable/historical value to some people. I only held onto them for sentimental value but they've been literally sitting in a storage box for almost twenty years (which is when I got them). If anyone wants to make an offer or a suggestion as to their value, please do so. I'd like to move them (unemployment sucks) but I won't give them away. Sorry for the mediocre pics but my camera sucks. Thanks for any help.

You mentioned that you don't have cables to test them with - do you know if they still work?

I can't say with all honesty whether they work or not. I know they did way back when but I don't know if age is a factor with mics, so I can't give you a solid yes. I've seen the Shure sell on ebay non-working for between $75 and $125, so if I could get $125 for the pair + shipping, I'd be a happy man.

If you're keen to test them, you could check them out with a cable - xlr at one end, bared wires at the other.

Just make sure phantom power is definitely off, and google (or continuity test) which pin is ground.

Can't go wrong with the rest.

OR

I don't have a cable for my reslo ribbon, but the three pin insert from an xlr cable went in ok with the connector chassis/surround removed. Had to change the pinout but that's easy if you can solder.

Of that age. Got a few of the new ones as well that have come out in the not to distant past.

I was thinking of buying the new one. Any difference between the old and new?
