Dogman

Unkle Ticklefingers
Take a listen, and see what I should work on next. Fixed the drums a bit, and tried to make the vocals better. Bit of work on the guitars as well. Needs more, so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.
Ed

PS...And Rokket, I checked the link BEFORE posting this time, NOT way after. Sorry dude, my bad. Thanks. :p

I'm listening right now, and say this is a good effort. Different vocal style. Guitars could be more upfront, but still sound o. k. The bass guitar is very prominent, and I like that.

Good song.

Hey, thanks man. I know you heard an earlier version, so glad to hear you still think it's ok. Doug did some stuff for me, and that really helped.

Check out the mix contest they have going on. It's a collaboration thing. Sounds pretty cool.

No prob. Love the original, and your vocals are improving.
I'll check out the mix contest. Should be a good learning experience.

See YA.

Sounds like you buried the vox in the mix to hide their imperfections. I'll be honest, I don't love 'em, but still, they need to be more up front.

Work on tightening up the bass sound. It's way too boomy in the low low end.

The kick... um, wait a minute, what kick? Add some click (4-6 k), some punch (kind of sharp Q on a freq you like, 100 - 250 Hz).

The guitar tones aren't perfect, but I really like them. They're kind of sleazy, which I like for this song.

The lead - maybe listen to some ZZ Top, then go for that sound with more gain. I think that would sound cool. It sounds a bit too affected or artificial as is.

All in all though, I dig it.

god! thiss takes me back to drinkin with bobby gilespie, you a primal scream fan by any chance? If you are I wouldn't change anything, you nailed it.

I'm pickin up on the point already made about the kick...it's in there but you have to scan for it, up 3db about 120hz..I hear the point but not the thud

Great song, really diggin this one

Thanks for the input. I didn't do much to the drums yet, as it's just a loop i used as a guide track, but am going to try and make it at least sound better. So, now I have some ideas for that. Thanks again.
I'll see what I can do with the vox, but since I can't sing so well....that may be hopeless..

Anyway, thanks for giving me some ideas to work on.Much appreciated.

Thanks, man. Appreciate you listened, and found some good in it. I will try and fix some of the issues, as the advice given helps me figure out what I'm doing.

I'll see where this goes. Thanks again.

EQ'd drums, and fixed vocals some...

I tried some different eq settings on the drums, and fixed some of the vocals. Now do the drums sound too tinny, mainly cymbals? Do I take down some upper frequencies, and if so, where should I start?

Thanks.
Ed

Cymbals do sound a bit harsh on, my crappy speakers. I hear the kick better, and the toms also. See if you can fix the crashes though.

Bob

Definately like the second mix better. The first actually has a little more clarity, but I don't mind the kind of boomy drum sound. Sounds like a lot of live shows I've been to, I like that aspect. But going along with the trashy sound of your voice, guitar, and bass (I mean stylistically), I'd like a trashy cymbal/hat sound. You can try boosting frequencies around 2-4.5k, see what sounds best.

Thanks. Tried to give some rep, but said I have to spread it around first.

I'll work on it more.
Ed

Really cool. I like the mixing and audio levels and that's what this is about, right? No real opinions.

Guitar solos sound a bit loud to me.

(I listened to the first link)

Not my kind of song, but I can recognize great production and originality. I'm sure I'm missing alot of the textures because of the shitty quality I'm playing, but, oh well.

swatsds, thanks for the listen, and the feedback. I need all the help I can get, as the learning curve for mixing something is pretty steep.
