.....but I'm posting it anyway. Why?

It was done about 4 years ago and was my second ever recording project, AND when all I had was the utmostfully cheapie Tascam 4-track cassette recorder (their cheapest model - can't remember the number now - but the one in all the local kiddie stores). So, no editing, EQ, or much anything else for that matter. Totally raw.....and sounds it. (Maybe take a swig of Pepto before opening.)

Actually, it doesn't sound bad at all. Considering teh equipement you used, you captured some decent sounds. I hear a few small errors, but this is played way better than I can play, and the tones fit the song well. Good sounds.

Thanks Dogman.

I really should at-least re-record the lead guitar. I preserved a separate mix-down from back in the Tascam days of just the back-up parts (everything but the lead). I could import that to Protools and then do a new lead track. I do play the lead better now, after having jammed it about 100,000 times since this was first recorded.

Of course what I should REALLY do is the whole project over in Protools entirely from scratch. After hearing the caliber of what a lot of you guys are posting here, I'm thinking along those lines for all my projects. First need to learn a lot more about what I'm trying to do sound-wise though (how do you guys get that rich, FULL sound???), and refine my techniques and environment accordingly. Look for lots of incoming stupid questions from me around the board!

I don't think your guitar suck. Actually I liked it a lot.
It looks as you did not care for playing mistakes and it is fine for me. The sound is almost "Santana". Playing is good too beside those mistakes I mentioned before.
I wonder if you did other stuff too or just used some bad midi file. Your version is unnecessarily complicated but that's just matter of taste.
How did you get this guitar sound? Any recepties???

Thanks sikter. I have to admit to feeling more natural playing this one than probably any of the other handful of projects I've worked up.

The midi is all stuff I did with a Roland JV1010 synth....and yes, it is bad.

Guitar is the Strat you see as my avatar, through a Mesa Boogie DC2 (one of their smallest combos) which is maxed on overdrive, and EQ leaned toward the treble end. On thie guitar, the pickups are set to the bridge-and-middle position and - unlike the amp - tone is all the way to bass. Somehow this overall combination gives quite a fat sound that feels real good playing.

ETA: Forgot to add, for the up-tempo (post gong) ending segment, I flip the pick-up setting to bridge only and swing the tone back all the way to treble. Need a sharper-edged sound for that part.
